YES! so normal. I kept telling myself that my body is smart and was going to do it whether or not I got on board... For some reason, the inevitability of it all helped me not stress as much. And thinking about all the women who have come before who have done it. Also, nearly the moment it was all over (both times) I was wanting to relive it all over- Even the unplanned no epidural birth! You'll do amazing!

Yep, normal I think and especially if you have anxiety. During both my Labors I was reminding DH of my advanced directive.

I vote normal. Try searching for positive c section stories and read those. Chat with your care provider and ask them to go over in detail exactly what will happen. Hopefully when the time comes your excitement will outweigh the anxiety- but speak up if it doesn't, they might be able to help.

@Paddington10: i think to an extent it is normal. as i got closer to my c-section date i started feeling the same way. in my case it got worse on the day of because they have to talk you through all the risks again as you sign all the paperwork. but in the ed the actual surgery goes by superfast and as you know most c-sections are complete easily without any complications

Totally normal! I was so calm about labour until like the week before, then I was a mess. But you'll do great!

Of course! Giving birth is seriously business! You really have little control, and anything can happen, so of course you'd be freaking out! I was terrified the first time, and will probably still be terrified this time!

Totally normal. Giving birth is a big freaking deal. Sure modern medicine has come along way, but still things can go wrong. What helped me was visualize a positive birth experience and play that out in my head many times over.

Yes. Every time before I'm about to go into labor (as in a week or two before) I get very nervous and usually even have a good cry over it. The tears are therapeutic and then I tell myself that, whatever happens, it's out of my hands but that I've hired the best in the business to help me have the safest delivery possible and that I trust them to work towards the best outcome. After that I just don't think about it anymore. You can drive yourself crazy playing what-ifs over and over again!

Maybe this is lame. But: I am suddenly petrified of my c-section coming up on Friday, It's like it hit me just now that this is happening and "anything could go wrong," like bleeding or complications or something with the baby. I rationally know the likelihood is miniscule (and I love my doctor) and this isn't even my first baby -- but suddenly I'm playing out these horrid scenarios, like doctors calling for transfusions and chaos or someone telling me the baby died, or that I'm bleeding too much, or or or....I need to stop doing this to myself! Is this normal? Anyone else suddenly scared to deliver? It doesn't help that a friend (who has other health issues but still) just had a majorly traumatic delivery a week ago...
