Just wanted to update everyone and let you know that I passed the pre-e test - yay! I stopped by today for a blood pressure test and it was still high so we did a non-stress test and ultrasound to check her fluid. Everything looked good but they want me to give blood again on Monday (to make sure I don't turn pre-e) and I will need to have twice weekly ultrasounds and non-stress tests plus my original appointments. That means I'll be at the doctors 3 times a week! I see the doctor on Friday and am going to talk about any work restrictions, etc. I'm happy they are being conservative with the treatment and hopefully I don't get any worse. I have still been feeling badly off and on. I have times I feel fine and other times I feel very, very sick. I guess I know now that what I was feeling was not normal.

@chrispygal: Awww, I'm sorry you have to pee in the bucket- I had to do that too since I had high blood pressure. I had to do it on a work day too- talk about embarrassing!

Hope all turns out fine with that- glad you talked with your doctor, I felt crappy during late pregnancy, but not as bad as you described. Hang in there, it can only last so much longer!

Well I am glad I listened to you ladies. I just got back from the hospital where they ran some tests. The good news is the baby is doing wonderful. Her heartbeat was perfect and there is plenty of fluid. My blood pressure was elevated but my blood work looked perfect. The urine test, however, was inconclusive. I guess .1 levels mean you're fine, .3 means you definitely have pre-e and .2 is inconclusive. Of course I rang in at .2. haha. This means I will need to pee in a bucket (literally) for 24 hours and bring it in. I will know by Wednesday mid-morning if I have it or not. Yikes!

Honestly, I had all the symptoms of pre-e and never had it. My entire body was swollen up like the Stay Puft marshmellow man. Definitely go get checked out to make sure it's not serious.... but just know that for some women, it is normal.

Good luck! I hope it's not pre-e!

Thank you for the support ladies. I appreciate it. The women I work with, who all had kids a long, long time ago, are kind of down playing what I'm feeling. I don't want to be paranoid, but it's just different. I did place a call into my doctor's office to be safe. I googled pre-eclampsia and some of my symptoms definitely fall into those and if it can come on suddenly, then that would explain a lot. I'm optimistic it's nothing, but I will let you all know how I make out. Thank you again for the encouragement. I'm so happy to have a place like this to come!

I'd call your doctor because of the swelling, the other symptoms sound like they could be your body preparing for labor (i.e. eliminating anything and everything in your system).

I'd call the doctor or midwife as soon as possible. It may be nothing and completely normal but the swelling in your face could be a sign of pre-eclampsia. I'm swollen myself, but only in my feet and hands, I constantly check my face in case that's swollen as well and if it is, I intend to call or drop by the hospital right away.

I have friends that ended up developing pre-eclampsia in late pregnancy and I'm a little paranoid because of it. I don't mean to alarm you, it might just be normal, but it doesn't hurt to check.

I agree with Merry, I'd check in with my doctor, particularly about the swelling. I'm at 32 weeks, and swelling just enough that my wedding band doesn't fit, and only my hands. I can't sleep very long without getting uncomfortable, I'm mildly nauseous with little appetite, and I'm constipated, but nothing unusual.

I'd check in with your OB just to make sure everything is okay. I hope you feel better!

I'm so sorry you're feeling so awful!

If it were me, I'd be checking in with my doctor, especially on the swelling. I think that's on my list of warning signs. I'm just shy of 35 weeks with twins - I'm definitely tired and achy, having bouts of mild nausea, using the bathroom a ton, mild swelling when I'm warm, etc. but feel like my level of discomfort is at a normal level for this stage in the game with 2. I think yours sounds miserable, love!

Are you still working? I've recently stopped, and spending the last week mostly horizontal on the couch drinking lots of water has helped me a lot, but I know that's not an option for everyone. I hope you feel better soon!

I am 35 weeks and have been feeling absolutely horrible for the past 5 days. I can't determine if this is "normal" pregnancy related stuff, or if my body is telling me that it can't take much more. I have been nauseous, more nauseous than I've been the entire pregnancy. I threw up on Friday for the first time and have seriously been fighting it ever since. I am so filled with fluid that I feel like I can't open my eyes all the way and I sound so congested and nasal-ly. My feet can barely fit into my shoes first thing in the morning and EVERYTHING is swelled. My fingers are about 3 times their size, my lips are huge, my nose is huge, and I feel like my tongue is even swelled up. I am exhausted even though I sleep 8-10 hours a night and my entire body is sore. My LO has been moving a TON - more than normal. I have dropped a bit but she is breech, so I haven't dropped that much. I have been going #2 a lot, almost like when you're sick, and would swear that I am sick except that this kind of bug would probably only last a day or two.

Sorry for that long rant - that was not my intent. I'm curious, is this par for the course and what people go through at this stage in the game? Were other people feeling lik this and did you end up going into labor early? I am really worried that my next 4-5 weeks are going to be unbearable or that something is wrong. Am I just being a paranoid first-time pregnant lady??
