In my ideal world we would sit together and have meals together as a family but in reality, our schedules don't mesh up. I eat with the baby and DH comes home just before LO goes to bed. We try to get together on the weekends =)

We didn't start sitting down for meals together until LO was about 7.5-8 months old. It just didn't work with our schedules. However, at least once a day I put her in the high chair while I cook/clean/fix her food... I just give her a whisk or something to play with.

I prefer to sit with LO and eat together. But I also do have my moments where I just don't have time, I have to get something done, and I do give her food while I'm cleaning up the house. Those moments are very few though.

For me: the goal is to sit and eat together but sanity comes first.

I don't think it matters at 6 months. I mean, it's nice to do family mealtimes, but at 6 months LO's schedule was wonky and he took forever, so sometimes meals lined up but more often than not, they didn't. Probably around a year we started making more of an effort to really have meals together, and now at 22 months it's a regularity.

Its up to you. I mean, there are plenty of times I pop her in the high chair and I unload the dishwasher. But dinner time we all sit down together. As long as you are sitting with them at some point so they learn "how" to eat thats pretty much all that is important.

I think it's up to you. I am not blessed with the chance to do many sit together meals with us as a family due to our schedules. Chances are we will do some feeding for the lo I'm currently pregnant with when no one else is eating.
I'm don't buy into having to eat with them every single meal. It's a personal choice but whether it's 'okay' or not is up to you.

I think it's important to sit with them and know what they're doing when they're eating. I try not to take my eyes off my lo while she's eating for very long. It's important to me at this age to watch what she's putting in her mouth so I know if something happens and she starts (god forbid) choking. Also, it reinforces family meal times if we sit with her even if we're not eating at that same time.

My LO is 6.5 months old and we've started with solids. I do baby-led-weaning with him, so he takes forever to eat/play with his food. I think it would be a good use of time to also work in my kitchen while I have him in the kitchen with me. However, I'm wondering if this is an okay habit to form, or whether I should make it a point to sit with him and eat my own food at the same time. I tend to eat at a different time than he does. Do you think it is important for me to eat with him?
