@pui: Everyone experiences PCOS differently, and you don't have to have any cysts to have the syndrome. Your description of LH surges but no ovulation and multiple days of fertile CM, sounds like PCOS. Could be something else too but either way going to see your dr. is the best thing.

@Mrs.Someone: I haven't really noticed any other symptoms besides the weird periods and seeming lack of ovulation... I have no history of ovary cysts or anything like that.

@pui: Ahh, sorry I thought it was more recent than that. Definitely call your doctor then! Worst they can say is to try longer, but hopefully they will be willing to test you for things. Have you looked for PCOS symptoms at all?

@Mrs.Someone: I went off BCP almost 8 months ago now and my cycles were regular right off and have only gotten more and more strange and irregular each passing cycle.

@pui: call your doc and see what he says! even having a timeline with the doc can help - once my doc and i agreed we'd just 'have fun' for a few cycles and then she'd put me on clomid to boost my O, i felt so relaxed last month and that was the month i got pregnant. So sometimes just having a chat with the doc can put you at ease. and if he's willing to start running some tests, even better! good luck :)

@pui: I know its really frustrating, but its completely normal for your cycles to take a while to regulate after being on BCP for several years. I don't think you're wasting your time, its just your body figuring out how to deal with the hormones on its own. I think if you still have crazy cycles 6mo after stopping BCP, then definitely go to a doctor. But with charting, at least you wont miss when you do finally O...

@Pirouette: I just feel like I'd be wasting my time not going to a doctor... At least then maybe I can bully him in to starting some tests to try and confirm if I am Oing lol.

I hope my luck turns. My husband and I both have been having a very busy and rough 2 weeks.

@pui: I would wait another month or 2 before scheduling an appointment, only because a lot of doctors won't take you seriously until you've been TTC for at least 6 months. However, it really depends on your relationship with your doctor. I had a very long history of long periods off BCP, and my doc was willing to see me immediately and discuss options, but most docs will want to wait a little longer.

My doc said that if you go 60 days without a period, you might want to consider having your period induced (with provera), but otherwise, longer cycles just make it harder to pinpoint O because you don't know when to expect it. Since you're temping and using OPKs, you have a better idea than the average person with longer cycles, so i think you still have a very good chance of getting pregnant even with long cycles.

BTW, i only had 1 normal cycle, in April, and that was enough for me. so hopefully you'll have the same luck :)

@Pirouette: Should I consider visiting a doctor? I assume irregular, long cycles and delayed ovulation isn't normal...?

@pui: sometimes you'll get a +OPK and then not O then for one reason or another, and your body will try again ASAP (which could account for why you are still seeing EWCM but haven't had a temp shift yet). if that happens, you'll see a temp shift shortly. I'd recommend starting back with the OPKs until the temp confirms O, or just BDing just in case :) Or, as you mentioned, you may gear up to O and not O for a while after, which has also happened to me. Unfortunately, both scenarios are pretty common, and there's no way to know yet. Hang in there! :)

@spaniellove: my last 2 cycles were 41 and 51 days. Before that I had cycles which were 28-31 days, but I was just getting off BCP.

I was under the impression that once you get a +OPK, you should be ovulating that day, the next day or the day after (unless your body gears up to ovulate and then doesn't like mine did earlier in my cycle...)

All I can make from this is that you haven't yet ovulated. It's not impossible for your chart to show an ovulation pattern in the next few days, since your temp rises the day after you ovulate, and you're still having fertile CM. Are your cycles usually this long?

Sigh...

My chart: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/pui

So my search for O continues. On CD35 and CD36 I got a +OPK. On CD37 the OPK was very VERY close to positive, but still a negative, so I marked it as such. Then I stopped doing OPKs figuring my surge was over (I wish I had kept doing them now).

I've had a ton of EWCM starting the day of the nearly-positive-but-negative test.

As you can see, no temp rise.

Could I still be in the ovulation process or is it looking like I will not again?

This is only my first cycle charting and TTC and I am already thinking getting pregnant is going to be a looong journey.
