When she was awake it was nice to have the extra room for someone to sit in the back with her. </p> <p>Plus I assume you would buckle the extra seat in even if it wasn't in use? I'm hoping that a convertible seat will be her Christmas gift from one set of grandparents, so we may use it on the way back. Recently we were visiting family for 3 weeks and we used a convertible seat the whole time. She did great in it! We are planning to get a convertible soon and then try transitioning her to that and if she likes it then we will use the convertible for our road trip. But I still like the convenience of the infant seat too. Is it silly to take both car seats on the trip? This way we can move her from one to other </p>
