I just wanted to write an update in case anyone revisits this post in the future with a similar situation.

I stopped swaddling his arms and he's sleeping better!! so it worked! Yea! I was going to try just one arm but he was still fighting to have the other one free so I just went cold turkey to both arms out.

A couple of times he startled himself and cried but he was way easier to soothe back to sleep.

He's also much easier to put down for naps and bed with his arms out now. All he wanted after all was to be more comfortable I guess. So glad I gave it a chance even though his doctor said to keep swaddling until 4 months.

Same as @Dandelion: Xander hated having his arms wrapped, so we would swaddle him from the chest down! We actually started that really early on (maybe by 2 weeks) because he would just fight it so much. It took a little bit for him to get used to his arms smacking himself around, haha, but it was definitely worth it.

M hates his arms wrapped in, so I wrap him up and leave his arms out.

We've been about a week with no swaddle now, though, and he's doing good without it.

I'm wondering if my my LO is ready to drop the swaddle. He doesn't seem to love it because he fusses when I wrap him and the.n spends so much energy trying to get his arms free after I'm done and trying to put him down. Definitely every time I get him up from sleep, his arms are as far up by his face as he could get them.

We use the halo sleep sack bc he's so long, he kicks out of every blanket we try to swaddle him in.

He doesn't roll over yet, he sleeps well at night with 1 wake up usually, and he's only 3 months.

So I'm wondering if any other bees had a similar experience and whether it could be a possible sign that swaddle weaning may be a good next step for us even though it's a little earlier than I work have planned.
