@Alivoo01: I hear you! I've tried not offering him the breast when he wakes up at night and...it's not pretty! I wonder what the process will be like when I gather up the courage to try for real. That's why I'm hoping he'll develop a bond with a lovey of some sort. Good luck to you!

Great post!! DS is just like your LO! He doesn't take towards a lovey and hates the pacifier likes it's poison. Only the boob will soothe him. No self soothing here! I'm looking to night wean soon and have attempted here and there, but no dice. He roots like crazy and gets upset if he can't find it. Not sure how to make the transition easier for him or how to night wean....

@MoonMoon: I think turning it on and making it part of the bedtime/nap routine helped him get attached to it. I don't know but it's worth a shot since you already have it. Today DS napped with it on top of his head :silly: it usually tucked under his arm though.

Mine didn't want to sleep with anything until she turned 2. Now she has a princess doll, a stuffed cat, stuffed dog, tons of balls... it's a party in her crib.

@lamariniere: oh excellent, I thought I missed the boat!

@MamaJ: oh, we have that seahorse! Time to bust it out (I put it away because he didn't seem interested when he was really little, then the battery ran out).

We didn't introduce one until 12 months. Actually I did try before but he didn't want any part of one. I got him a fisher price glowing seahorse. I turned it on every time I put him in his crib. After a few months he started cuddling with it and turning it on himself in the middle of the night.

When he started daycare I actually bought him a second one to leave there.

My son didn't take a lovey until 18 months! They were definitely great as soothing/transition objects and he still sleeps with them and finds comfort with them at 3.

My LO is almost 11 months and we co-sleep. From the very beginning, he didn't seem too into stuffed animals or loveys, and I didn't push the issue. Around 7 months old, he completely weaned himself off of pacifiers and bottles. Now I've noticed that's left him with nothing for soothing, since he doesn't stuck on his hands/thumb either. Nothing but boob! :silly: I'm not interested in night-weaning yet, but looking ahead, I can see how a transitional comfort object might come in handy. Is it too late to introduce something to him? How would I go about it? What's a good thing to use?

Thanks!
