Give it a try, you might be able to get it to work. If you did it full-time, every 2-3 hours, then it would probably come back faster. But whatever you can do is great for you and for your LO. Good luck!

It's supply and demand, right? So as long as you keep nursing, you should in theory produce that amount.

Its worth a try. I quit for 4 weeks and then tried to relactate and go back. It never worked that well for me, but its possible.

I say go for it, since milk production is a supply and demand system you should be able to increase your supply. You should probably should put her to the breast before giving her the formula so she can nurse first (and work to increase supply) then "top her off" with formula.

@meredithNYC: Try it again and I think if you can get 2-3 sessions in they say thats all they need to get the full benefits from breastfeeding.

Thanks, everyone! This is really encouraging. I guess I never realized that I would miss nursing, but it really is so nice to have a little bonding time with the baby.

Yeah, you can still try. If you still have some milk it may just take a little more time to nurse in the beginning (and then less time as your supply goes up)

Yeah its worth trying. If you still have milk coming in then you should be able to maintain the amount you have and even increase it slightly

I'm not an expert but if you're still feeding her once a day, you should be able to get your body to add on a couple of sessions.

Give it a try. If you still have milk you can try to boost it and get the 2-3 sessions!

After a rough couple of months of breastfeeding, during which time I had to supplement due to low supply, I finally threw in the towel when my daughter was 10 weeks old. So for about a week and a half I have been almost exclusively formula feeding with the occasional breastfeeding session - most often when she needs comforting.

However, my body does seem to be producing milk still. My breasts are no longer engorged and I very rarely leak, but if I squeeze my nipples milk will come out. And, as I said, I breastfeed LO once a day or once every 2 days.

My question is: have I ruined my supply by taking this time out? I don't want to breastfeed full time, but I would love to reinstate 2-3 feedings a day. I think I was so overwhelmed in the beginning with just adjusting to being a new mom that my stress might have affected supply. But now I am much more relaxed, so perhaps things could be easier.
