Yes! At daycare DD plays outside twice a day so she needs to be warm. I bought Oshkosh ones...considered bogs but decided she didn't NEED them.

@Mrsjets: We take off her boots when she gets into the car (she's still rear-facing) otherwise she'll muddy up the seats!

@Sammyfab: -20 is not enough! Well, you are a bit more south than me. ;) I'm sure in a few months LO will be better at walking through the snow. Right now her boots are a bit short and snow keeps getting into her boots. Maybe i'll check out Winners this week!

I live in central Canada and totally bought DS (18 months) a pair of Sorels. They were $40 but are plain black so I hope to use the on DD in 2 years. They're super bulky though, I'm worried about them fiting in his car seat comfortably rear facing.

That's awfully cold, yikes. I'd for sure get something warm and at least medium quality. I'd look for sales, personally.

@Freckles: ugh!! I don't know how I'm going to tolerate 5+ more months of winter! We have two pairs of boots - ugg-style boots from BabyGap and more wintery boots that I found at Winners for $20. They were rated for -20C weather. I would have splurged for Sorels but I find them really heavy (for toddler boots at least!). Another pair I was looking at were the North Face Nuptse boots.

But to actually answer your question, yes, I think it's worth it because my kid actually likes being outside in the snow!

I try to get two winters of wear on boots, let's see if that is possible this year, so I spend in the $25 range on boots.

I think it is worth it. I bought DS Sorel boots for this winter (he's almost 3). He is going to be wearing them from now until April. We live in a city and don't have a car, so we are walking or taking the stroller everywhere and I don't want to be paranoid that his feet are cold all winter. His school also takes the kids to the park every day, even in the snow, so he needs something warm and waterproof. I did buy one size up, so hopefully they will fit all winter.

We bought LO some Bearpaw boots, I forget how much they were, but they were on sale. Just something to keep her warm, she's not going to be out walking in the snow a lot so she didn't need something like Sorel's. You might be able to score some deals with the holiday sales coming up.

Brand new, not on sale, nope. But LO is 18m and our weather is the same and I bought her a pair of Sorels from 6pm. I must've caught a computer glitch because I paid like $15! But they are regularly on there for $30. Cold feet is the pits so a worthy investment in cold snowy country!

Check Craigslist and local FB resale groups!! People have been posting them like mad in mine. I just scored a pair of Bearpaw Ugg likes for $10 in EUC!

It is 6 months of winter where i live, with temperatures dropping to ridiculous lows of -40C/F. We've already had 2 weeks of snow and temps down to 12F/-11C. When i take LO out, i have the weather shield over the stroller which keeps her fairly warm.

She is 19 months and it's not like we're playing out in the snow all that much, and i can't see us being out for more than 1-2 hours. Do you think it's worth buying pricey boots like Sorels, Bogs, or other super warm boots that she will likely outgrow?
