Hang in there! Life did get somewhat better when I stopped pumping (although this was not weaning for us because I still BF when I'm at home) but there are times when I miss those breaks I was forced to take! Remember not to WORK while you are pumping. Do something relaxing and enjoyable.

Thanks so much for the advice...

@rachiecakes: Good for you - I haven't even drank any alcoholic beverages, or even coffee, for more than a year now... :(

@Thehistoryofus: I am not thinking of quitting. I think I will try to go for a year (unless if he cuts his first tooth and start biting me then I may have to re-evaluate!). 4 months down - 8 more to go....

I just want to know the future - if life will really be better like I thought it will be, or it just won't. It is the 50% of a mother, and 50% of a worker /contributor that makes me sad.

Aww I'm sorry, yes pumping can be stressful. I think the biggest thing that helps when I get into a funk is to do a few things:
1. Never quit in a bad day.
2. Set a short term goal (I will keep pumping through next week). Re-evaluate at that point.
3. Remember that like everything with babies things change all the time.

Another thing is that as she has gotten older and eating more solids I have been able to drop to 2 pumpings at work. It has helped a ton!

I can't say for myself, LO is 6 months old, my first.
But GIRL, I feel you! I feel like I'm not full time mom, I'm not a full time worker anymore (because all I think about is DS, then I'm pumping/cleaning pump/drinking water, etc., while I'm at work). Anytime I'm out with friends I have to make it less than 4/5 hours or I bring the pump with me. And then there's worrying about having more than a drink in the time I'm out and how that will mess with my breastfeeding schedule... it's a lot to deal with.

That said, it really is an amazing experience and I know I won't have my son this little forever. I do remind myself of this.

Is life going to drastically better after weaning?

Having to work, and have to pump 3 times a day during the working hours just makes me want to die. For me I feel that I am half as productive as before and only half a mother because I have hired help. It makes me feel horrible. Worst is, my husband doesn't understand and question what's the big deal and why is it so difficult. Sigh.

I think that after I wean, I would at least not having to take 15 minutes out 3 times a day at very specific times to pump. I would be able to concentrate on work more. I also don't need to worry about stress affecting supply. From your experience, is that true? Would I somehow get a portion of my life back?
