@autumnlove: I'm suffering with you!! We do both vaseline (Dr. recommended) and lotion/cream right after bath and LO screams bloody murder. But he has super dry skin and eczema so it's not optional. I dream of a soothing lotion massage that he would love .... not happening :(
Any tips?? He's so so so dry.

Yes! After every bath! LO seems to be pretty indifferent to the lotion/mini massage . . . she get slightly annoyed when I lotion her arms because she is usually playing with something, and when I do her arms she has to go to all the trouble of switching the toy to the other hand/arm - lol! She seems to like when I do her legs and feet though. I do it because the air conditioning runs pretty much around the clock and it can be extra drying to skin . . . and baby skin loses moisture faster than more mature skin.

Every night, bath or not, D gets a little massage with Burts Bees lotion. Usually he loves it. I sing a lullaby to him, too, and he kind of sings along with me, now. But if he's extra tired or hungry, it's a scream fest.

We always lotion up after a bath. If she's into it, we have a little massage. If she's getting fussy, it's a quick application and then off to bed.

Yes! After bathtime....she used to not like it but I think she now enjoys the little baby massage I give her with lotion! Plus, the Mum and Bub lotion we use is so delicious smelling....I sneak some of it on myself when I'm done with her. :-)

we used to, but he didn't seem a fan--he would get really squirmy and sometimes would start fussing towards the end. so now i sometimes lotion him with one hand while i'm nursing, or if my husband is there to read the bedtime stories, i'll sneak in some lotion then (but only if he has dry patches--otherwise i've been skipping it completely).

i had all these idyllic visions of lovingly massaging my cooing and happy baby with lotion after a bath every night. so not the case.

We absolutely use lotion, but we don''t suffer :) I have found that if I heat his towel in the dryer beforehand (I use a regular adult fluffy one not those thin stinky baby towels) it keeps him totally zen and calm after his bath. I can manage to sneak my hands in to put lotion on and keep him snuggled in the warm towel at the same time. He doesn't even notice! Try it :)
