To me those sound like age appropriate behaviors. Maybe you could call the school and talk to them about what they think "ready" looks like so you have now information to make a decision?

I teach preschool right now, ages 3-5. I'm wondering how long your daughter has been acting this way (not going potty, ignoring, being physical)? 3 is a very common age for these types of behaviors and consistency helps children move away from acting that way. I think preschool could help in the way that @Beehive: mentioned. Having a new environment, different activities, and other adults reinforcing good behavior could possibly change the way she's acting. I don't think it would hurt at all. The teachers may even have suggestions for things you could do at home. If it seems like it's not a good fit after several weeks, you can always pull her and try again next year!

I have no advice from practical experience as my DS is just starting preschool in the fall (he'll be just under 2, and will be joining a program for 2-3.5 year olds), but my thought in enrolling DS in preschool quite early is that (a) he'll probably enjoy it, and (b) being in a structured environment will hopefully help him with things like focusing, sitting and listening, etc. Who knows if it will actually work in practice though! Perhaps being out of the house and being instructed by others will help your daughter with some of the issues you have been having, especially if they are related in any way to adjusting to the new baby.

LO will be 3 in September. So if we send her this year she can do 2 years of preschool and if she passes the early entrance exam she will start kindergarten just shy of 5. If she doesn't pass she will do 3 years of preschool. We saved a spot in January of this year for her to start but now that its getting closer I'm not sure she should go. She refuses to go #2 on the potty and has been having alot of accidents lately. We have been having behavior/listening problems as well. (won't listen, hits, screams) We have been trying everything to get her to stop these things! I really don't think she is ready for preschool, or am I just being an over concerned parent. (we also just had a baby in May so maybe she is still adjusting)

What would you do?
