I';m a similar build. I am slightly between the 2 sizes and the directions say to choose the smaller size due to stretching. I got the M, and both DH and I can wear it and J fits fine when either wear it.

I think it looks kind of loose? Though, mine was a bit loose until K was about 8-9 lbs. Here's an example:
2 wks and 3 months

ETA: Sorry for the huge pics! Wish you could resize IG pics.

I had the regular ktan and it just never get like it fit right. I wanted to love it, but I ended up returning it and using the moby because Lo felt so much more secure in it. I also never quite figured out that hold in the cradle position- we both liked the one where baby is tummy to tummy with you, legs froggy in against your tummy, head up (I held her head with my hand early on since she wouldn't tolerate the fabric on it).

I really wanted to love the ktan- so much quicker than the moby. But once I got used to the moby I never looked back.

@tinypiglet: the way you pushed the fabric up on your shoulders (or I guess, maybe that's naturally how it fit on you) - I tried that and it made her feel WAYYYY less secure. Which I think may be a sign that it's time to trade for a M. I might get a non-breeze too because this mesh is just throwing me off.

Here's a photo. Maybe mine does look smaller on me than yours does on you, actually? And this should compare to the size of your kiddo; mine was 8 pounds 1 oz at birth and this is less than a week later. If you're feeling it's not right, then I say you should try the medium size and see what you think of that!

We are about the same size and that is how it fit me. I switched to the Moby and that was way better as far as feeling snug/secure. It was a similar concept except you had an extra layer to kind of strap it all in real nice, tight, and cozy.

That looks about how mine did, if I remember correctly, except for the "extra" fabric in the shoulders. I usually had to force my shoulder fabric to spread out wider on my shoulders. But, I had the original, not the breeze, so I can't comment on the mesh - maybe that's changing the way it fits? Does it feel snug at all, or just kind of loose and floppy-ish, like she's hanging in it instead of being nicely snugged up to you?

And yes, it did get tighter after washing, but it did stretch out again when I wore it.

I was just texting with a friend to see if she thought this was the right size for me, and thought I'd "poll" HB too.

Some background- I wear a 14/16, but probably more like a 14 on top, a 12 when I'm at my ideal weight. The L is 14/16 and the M is 10/12. I bought the breeze, which is half mesh. Effie is 4 weeks old, and 8+ lbs (I'm guessing).

I am not a huge fan of the half mesh. I thought it would just be a more breathable fabric but the mesh half is like basketball shorts material and thus, slippery. I would worry having that fabric around her, so I put that on my back. The regular fabric though seems to kind of slip and slide too.

I'm attaching pics in a moment in comments (they're on my phone) - basically I followed all the instructions/videos I found for newborn wearing. And she didn't feel super secure. Granted, I've never worn a baby before having Effie so I don't know what a "successful" baby wearing feels like.

It seems like there is extra fabric on the shoulders, which restricts my movement. The fabric in general just seems excessive. But I haven't washed it yet. Not sure if washing it will tighten it up a bit, or if I should go down to a M? Please let me know what you guys think from my description and pictures!
