@LAGS: Carters makes some fleece sleep sacks with sleeves that we will use this winter. We also put footed pjs under her Halo sleep sack because her feet are always cold!

@HeatherlovesKenny: lol it's absolutely huge on her, but oooomg she's adorable! She looks like a little bitty peanut lost in there. I hope it works for you guys come 6 months!

To update, we did end up going cold turkey with the swaddle. Like most described, we had a few bad nights and putting her down is a little more time consuming, but she's been sleeping fine (well "fine" considering she's been a crap sleeper regardless) since.

Still considering a zipadeezip or some other form of sleeved sleep sack though, her little arms always get cold!

If she's rolling, then she's ready. It's just not safe to keep her swaddled. We just took away the swaddle cold turkey, and it worked great. Sure, we had a couple of hard nights, but it was quick. We finally just started putting her on her belly from the get-go, and it solved all of our transition problems.

I would just go for it and wean. I did it cold turkey with both boys and it wasn't so bad. They seemed happier without it.

You know our saga - son was a complete swaddle addict - we quit cold turkey after he kept rolling up on his side in the swaddle. My personal feeling is that if they can roll in the swaddle it's time to wean. For us, cold turkey was the best way to go. A few bad nights but over the course of a week his sleep steadily improved and then got better than before we weaned him.

@Honeybee: haha thanks, she's absolutely hidden in fabric! I bought the 6-12 month size and I will probably hold off on using it until she's exactly 6 months!

@LAGS: so it's here, and not that impressive! The zipadeezip is like a giant, expensive sleep sack and I haven't actually tried it because it's so big.

@caffeinated: I know right? That baby is such a ham!

@HeatherlovesKenny: Oh I'd love to hear some feedback! I like the idea of it, especially because she couldn't scratch but I'm concerned LO would still rip her paci out. Not the end of the world though.

@Honeybee: It sounds like most have a rough handful of days then they're good to go. I guess I just have to suck it up and expect a few bad nights. I should probably wait until DH's days off!

I tried, I don't know, 3 or 4 times to swaddle wean DS before I finally just broke down and saw it through. He was just too big and strong for swaddling anymore, though, and it was too hot to have him sleep in anything but a diaper. I'm not sure if he just wasn't ready before, or if I just finally committed all the way, but we decide to remove the swaddle once and for all, he adjusted in about 3 days.

Also, that baby in the video is adorable, lol. Now I wish I had a Zipadee-Zip for DS!

@HeatherlovesKenny: omg I'm laughing out loud after visiting the zipadeezip website... so ridiculous... I neeeeeed one!!!!

Sounds like I should just bite the bullet. My hesitation is mostly selfish because I don't want our sleep situation to hurt any more than it already is... but its gotta happen at some point.

It may be worth it to see it through. She may learn to stop swatting her paci out and will eventually get used to sleeping with her arms free. Once my LO started rolling, we just swaddled her from the chest down and did that for a few more month until she could pull herself to standing. Then we transitioned to sleep sacks. You may have a few sleepless nights, but it will be worth it!

You may have seen my posts, as i painfully weaned LO from her swaddle. Although i'm guessing you're weaning from a full swaddle? I followed honeybee's recommendation of tucking her underneath a blanket (with the ends tucked into the crib) and it worked.

I remember trying to wean her last month, and she just wasn't ready. Disastrous results. I only felt like i had to wean her once she started rolling over.

I would see it through--the rolling makes me nervous. I actually looked this up on HB the other day because we'll have to wean in the next few weeks but she loves her swaddleme! Someone said they use a sleep sack that's the shape of a starfish called Zipadee-zip. I think I might try it?

Weaning LO (4.5mo) wouldn't be on my radar if it weren't for a few bad nights of her rolling onto her belly. Fortunately she lets out a good scream when it happens, but obviously I know this is bad news.

We've since dabbled with weaning her but have had no luck. (Our solution to keep her safe has been blankets rolled up on either side of her and under her crib sheet which has kept her in place and we've had no rolls since.) She sleeps with a paci but when she has an arm or both out always rips it out of her mouth which upsets her. She doesn't soothe with her fingers/hands either. Instead they just seem to cause trouble as she constantly bops herself in the face and gives herself some decent scratches.

Would you say LO isn't ready to be weaned? Or do you think because she's rolled I really need to see this through?
