@Foodnerd81: This is pretty spot on, and I only have one kid. Plus I'm a hardcore introvert, so being in a job where I'm "on" all day (which I love but...) and then coming home and being "on" until bedtime, my brain is utterly fried.

@rachiecakes: I feel like a terrible person because I almost LOLed at "my heart is broken..."

Whenever I yell or put C in timeout she comes out with "mommy? Can you hold me?" Which sounds sweet but she says it in the absolute most annoying voice ever.

Both! Or maybe the mental exhaustion makes me physically exhausted? Either way, by 6pm I just don't want to move or do anything!

Both. But more mental emotional I guess. It's the constant thinking of everything, who needs what next, what's going on tomorrow next weekend this month... Triaging tantrums and meals and crying babies.

I'm so tired all the time.

Mentally.
Mondays are hard for me, first day back at work for the week, I miss my little nugget all day. I got home yesterday and he was being the biggest brat ever; wouldn't eat dinner, everything he said was rude & sassy. We sent him to bed early because he was being so terrible and he cried for a good 30 mins, "I miss mommy... my heart is brooooken... I'm soo lonelyyy" Ugh, it killed me! But I wanted to keep firm because his behavior was so awful!
Pass the wine.....

Physically, My 2 year old always wants "up-y" or to be in my lap. I'm mentally exhausted though by the combination of her and my work!

Mentally/emotionally for sure. I mean, I'm always tired from interrupted sleep, but by the end of the night I really just want to lock myself away in the bathroom with a big glass of wine.

It used to be more mentally exhausting with a good mix of physical when he doesn't STTN which is often. Now it's mostly physical since I'm nearly 7 months pregnant.

Both.
From carrying around a baby elephant and a very capable but unwilling to hold hands toddler to trying to reason with a too smart for her own good three year old I have very little capacity for anything else mentally or physically.
My brain is pretty mushy but my arms are cut though.

Mentally, for sure. I don't have the best patience so it really takes a lot of metal strength to power through tantrums/whining/why's/neediness.

Mentally/emotionally. Not like I"m using my brain too much, but more the tantrums and whining and yelling and constant planning and organizing just takes a toll!

Hmm... I was going to say it's more emotionally draining. Like I feel like I get stressed out and frustrated when I'm parenting. And I tend to go from "Yay! I love this!" to "OMG, WHEN IS BEDTIME???" very easily.

At the end of a long day parenting, do you feel more physically exhausted or mentally exhausted? Or do you feel like it's a good mix of both?

I feel like lately parenting is more mentally draining for me. I kind of wish it were more physically exhausting vs mentally, but right now with a 2 and 3 year old it definitely causes mental exhaustion. They really like to test their limits these days.
