Yes! When I'm upset the first thing I want to do is put on my headphones, lace up my shoes, and go for a nice steady outdoor run. I like it to be 3+ miles.

@changingtides: 100%. When I first started running about 12 years ago I would only run on the treadmill and zone out to a TV show and just wait for it to be over. But now I live in a year-round nice climate and run outside and it's. the. BEST. Almost each run I get to the point where I forget I'm running because I am so focused on whatever is going through my head. I typically run 4-5 miles. Not sure if distance makes a difference, but I definitely am not zoned out until after that first mile. Of course there are some days when putting one foot in front of the other is SO tough, but most days it's my release and I need it for my mental sanity:-D.

I'm not sure if "enjoy" is the right word for how I feel, but I do get to a point where I really want to go for a run and feel great afterwards even if I hate it while I'm doing it, if that makes sense. I despise short runs. For me, I absolutely loathed running until I randomly decided to do a half-marathon and started running longer distances. I got a huge boost/high when I would go on a longer run--like 6+ miles--because it felt good to be doing something that the average person didn't do. So, yeah, I love and hate it. :)

ETA: I always listen to audiobooks or podcasts during runs because I have to have something to really get into and distract myself. It helps me love the run so, so much more.

I like running, but only if I'm outside. I hate the treadmill and I hate running laps. I like to be going somewhere.

I do find it enjoyable sometimes (not every time!) The right music helps, and I let my mind wander and that is a luxury I don't usually have. And of course, afterwards I feel great!

I'm trying to get into it. I've been running with a friend just like once a week for the last 5 weeks? I did a 10km run today for this big community event. It did feel good to accomplish that. It was my goal to just complete this race, but I hope I can keep up the motivation to keep running each week.

Nope! I have tried several times to become a runner...couch 25k etc...always gave up after a few weeks or months. I've concluded that I love walking and am willing to just walk longer to get the equivalent workout to running! Gotta find what works for you.

Yes, but it didn't become that way until I was 27. Prior to that I hated it and couldn't fathom how anyone would like it. A friend went from hating to loving by doing couch to 5k so I decided to give it a try, within 3 weeks I was hooked. I'm starting again and find it just as therapeutic.

I find my body doesn't always love it though. I have knee and arch issues and stop at the first twinge.

No. I've always wanted to like it but I never have. I ran cross country in high school, ran of my own free will in college and post college. I even ran (OK, completed) a marathon. I never found any joy in it. I returned to it so many times because I'm not social and I'm pretty uncoordinated.
