Just yesterday we saw a car that kept kind of swerving to the left, even clipping the curb a few times. DH was SO FURIOUS and caught up next to her and yep sure enough, looking down at her lap, clearly texting. It is absolutely infuriating! It's a "distracted driving" law. So you're not supposed to talk on the phone (unless hands-free), text or do anything that could cause you to be distracted (eg. eat), but it's really at the officer's discretion. Meaning I could be blatantly texting while driving in front of an officer and they can't pull me over- I have to break another law (speeding, etc) and then they can "tack it on" - kind of like how seatbelt offenses are in many places. Cops are pulling people over and it's a $134 fine here in Seattle.
