My son changed daycares when he was a little over age 3. I just sold it to him by acting excited about it and how great it was that he is 3 now and such a big boy and he gets to go to a new school. I was very anxious about it but he handled the transition just fine.

@mediagirl: you never know what they remember/understand, so it could totally work! I don't really have any other solutions.

@looch: they transition when they turn the next age at both centers. So, I guess I could prep her next summer and tell her now that she's a big 2 year old, she gets to go to a new daycare? I don't know if you can reason with a 2 year old like that?

Do the kids in the center move up to the next room at a certain point? Like in our center, the kids move up to the 3 year old room after they have turned 3 and are potty trained. I am not sure when they transition to the 2s room, but it would seem like a logical time to change the center, since they'd be changing rooms with new teachers anyway.

But my son is bad with change, so what do I know.

I would say the younger the better. We recently moved B to a new daycare and he was totally unphased.

I would guess the younger the better? Is there an age when your child deals with changes better?

With my company moving next summer, I need to find a new daycare provider for our daughter. She is 15 months now, we have paid through December, so we have to stay through December. We can move after that since the centers we are looking at are still on our way to our current offices, they're just on the other side of town.
