Besides the hungry, tired, or sick reasons - we always seem to hit rough patches every 6 months. I've heard that kids go through big developmental leaps every 6 months so I chalk it up to that when I can't find any other reason!

It doesn't happen often for us (but today too). I usually think it's the beginning of a cold if sleep was good. But it could even be the heat from yesterday. We were across the country but it was still sweltering.

For my LO I usually chalk it up to sleep (lack of or bad quality) or a developmental milestone. Or he's just grouchy, just like how I wake up grouchy sometimes!

DD1 has been crazy grumpy this past weekend (albeit she does have an ear infection and strep (and baby is coming tomorrow) but she was melting down over the smallest things). Turns out she is probably going through a wonder week.

Probably doesn't apply to your older kids though. Full moon?

My kids were really struggling this morning. My daughter cried and beg to be carried to summer camp, while my son was in a grouchy mood the whole way there. I used up 200% of my RDA of patience just walking/carrying the kids to school! Then when I got there, my daughter started crying and didn't want me to leave.

If the kids are off for a reason, then I find it pretty easy to cope. But sometimes they're just off and I have no idea why! Nothing drains me faster than the good ol' "double meltown while out in public."

Is there a rhyme or reason to kids having "off" days?
