I don't avoid putting out decor or buying nice things, but I am a huge fan of Wayfair and TJ Maxx where I can get it for super cheap so even if DS throws my ceramic pumpkin and it shatters in a million pieces, it was only $4. I also focused more on buying nicer ceiling/wall lighting fixtures and cheaping out on things like couches, chairs and rugs that he can destroy. It was important that he learned to operate around it. Not that any of the stuff that we had was precious or breakable, but I do make it a point that he has to be respectful in the house, especially of things that are not his toys.</p> <p>As for holiday decor, one thing I love to do is to make a wrapped box tower. I save all the big shipping boxes and wrap them in bright paper and stack them like a tree. Stuffed reindeers or teddies in wool hats, the LP nativity, some garland they help make. I find the tree is the most attractive nuisance, and once the novelty wears off, it's not bad.
