@BandDmommy: I am avoiding the empire look this pregnancy. I just don't want to do it, honestly (shrugs).

I saw photos of the dress I rented for the wedding on a pregnant woman and it looked great, so I'm hoping for the best. RTR gives 2 sizes per rental so hopefully 1 will work!

@PrincessBaby: I have a few HL dresses and they are pretty tight across the belly. Not really enchanting. If you want to rock the bump, empire dresses accentuate the bump more.

@littlebug: you look awesome! Love that dress!

I'm going to just get a belly shaper/spanx thing and roll with that. I'll just hope for the best that I pop a bit more in 4 weeks:)

I agree with others that the bandage dress may flatten the bump and be less flattering than you want. I rented this dress at somewhere between 20-22 weeks, and it was SUPER flattering and really showed off the bump.
http://www.minefornine.com/item/is001-001-007
I assume this one would also work. http://www.minefornine.com/item/is005-001-007

I'll see if I can find a picture of me wearing it and come back to post it. It really looked great (not to toot my own horn).

ETA: here's a photo.

Agree with everyone. A bandage dress will mash down the bump!

Empire waist dresses will show a small bump off better. I'd be worried that a bandage dress would squish whatever bump you do have.

OMG I so did this at a wedding 2 weekends ago, I was 15 weeks and expected a bigger bump but I swear I woke up and my little bump was gone, so I just wore pregnancy Spanx and rested my hand on my belly a lot. and honestly "puffed" it out instead of sucking in like usual ;)

I’m also in the camp of rocking the bump. More than making your bump “pop” or shaping it; you might want to have a backup on hand with that first dress because of the obvious bellybutton issue it has. One of the RTR pictures with the chick who is like 5’11” and 120lbs. - - even though there is obviously not an ounce of fat on her and she’s got a rockin’ body, you can clearly still see her bellybutton with that dress on. I imagine that will be much more obvious when a pregnant belly of any shape and look odd, since the dress is so tight. I dunno, maybe it’s my own weird bellybutton issues, but that would be my chief concern. Not one wants a bellybutton taking center stage over a bump.

Love the second dress.

I have found that non maternity dresses are just not as flattering and I have a very round bump (as in football stuffed up top). There still seems to be a big difference between mat and normal body con dresses.

I always found that maternity dresses/pants made my bump look rounder. I assume you couldn't find a maternity dress you liked? (It may be a moot point now if you've already rented those.) Those bandage dresses are just so tight that I'd worry about it squishing the bump and making you look even more un-round, if that makes sense.

@PrincessBaby: I think either the Spanx or the one @runnerd: provided will work well. Anything with support underneath the bump. Also 4 weeks makes a lot change!

I rented a Herve Leger bandage dress from RTR for a wedding in 4 weeks....I am more in the camp of rocking the bump over hiding the bump. It's a long story, but it's really important to me to look super fab at this wedding.

Anyway, I thought I'd be all cute with my little round bump on display in it, because I'll be 17 weeks pregnant with #2, but the way things are looking, my bump is nowhere near "Display Ready" or obviously pregnant and I'm scared I'm just going to look like I let my belly go, lol.

I know there are Spanx for maternity, but I used them with LO1 after I had a big bump so not sure of the bump shaping capability Is there anything out there that will help shape the bump?
