@Bao: I agree with dagret... Bee works miracles with an Oxiclean paste!

1st try is the oxy, but if it's super stubborn, i have been using peroxide, dawn and baking soda..omg game changer. rub the paste on the stains, i let it soak for 1-2 hours, then wash, and stains have disappeard--rust stains, milk stains, blood, who knows what it is stains, gone.

We use a mixture of peroxide, blue dawn, and baking soda mixed into a paste. Let it set until dry then wash.

@Bao: i've even got dryer-set stains out by soaking in water w/oxyclean powder for 12-24 hrs. then rinsing and setting in the sun to dry. then wash again.

@Bao: I generally feel like if it's been through the dryer, it's done, but my MIL swears by the sunlight technique others suggested - if you've got a place you can hang things outside, it's worth a try!

When oxy clean doesn't work i've had some success with blue dawn and letting it sit a while. Also a qtip with bleach on it for anything white or on a white background. Boiling water works wonders on berry stains. You can try washing then hanging in the sun. Ultimately we have two wardrobes for my DD one for daycare (hand me down/all stained clothes) and one nicer one for home which i'm much more diligent at getting to stains when they happen.

Sunlight! Even if you've already washed and dried them. I've done that a few times (missed the stain before tossing it into the dryer). I just rewash and then dry out in the sun. Works like a charm!

ETA: I don't actually ahve a place to hang clothes outside. I use a chip clip to clip the items to our deck chairs, ha!

In my house, unfortunately the answer is no. Sometimes I don't even notice the stain and once it's run through the dryer, I am just not able to get stains out without either ruining the fabric color or causing fraying from rubbing.

I also have had great success with Oxyclean. When I opened up my bag of 0-3 months clothes they all had brownish stains from spit up even though I swear they had been clean when I had packed them away. We just soaked with Oxyclean powder and warm water for a few hours and they were as good as new!

I've had lots of success with the oxyclean powder. I mix it with warm water and soak the clothes for 12-24 hours. We got some great hand me downs from friends and I was able to get a bunch of old stains out. Occasionally it takes more than one soak and I did change the color of a onesie, but overall it has worked well!

If it doesn't respond to stain removers, it's probably done. BUT, I always try one more technique. Wash it again with stain removers and then let it dry in direct sunlight. I've had that work with that sometimes.

I have had luck getting old stains out with strong stain removers. If the fabric isn't super delicate putting some elbow grease into it by scrubbing helps and letting it really sit in the stain remover. Or spot treating with straight bleach if it's a white piece of clothing with a stubborn stain. And don't dry it the clothes if the stain is still there. Treat the stain over and over and run in the wash but don't dry. But really treating immediately is best of course

@oliviaoblivia: good to know! Im totally getting this!

I actually just searched for this topic this afternoon! LO's poops at 3 1/2 months are lethal for his white onesies and of course he let one rip onto a swaddle blanket while enjoying some bare-bummed tummy time today :silly: Lots of people love Oxiclean spray when used in 1-2 wash cycles and then letting it dry in the sun. Today I tried the spray then the powdered solution, I'm hoping it saved a few things!

My youngest has destroyed over half of her clothes, and I'm wondering if there is any hope that these stains will come out. They aren't new stains so I'm thinking I'm out of luck? Or is there anything I can try before I just toss half of her wardrobe?
