I've visited many places and even though I can't stand humidity and I'd be RIDICULOUSLY FAT if I lived anywhere in the south, I can't say i HATE too many places. I live in a city that most people end up "hating" and leaving. But I love it!!!!! Never wanna leave. It would have to take a MASSIVE opportunity to uproot my family from here. Could never live in deep south- hot, humid, no seasons, gators, huge bugs....I would die. Could never live in midwest area like Kansas or Oklahoma- terrified of tornadoes and need to be by ocean. Could never live in very cold/remote states like Dakotas, Alaska, Wisconson. I would say the only states I would consider would be North Carolina, Northern/Mid California, and the PNW just looks lovely. He is 6th generation in our city, so his entire family lives here (they have their own cemetery!), so he just thinks it's the best. My family lives here, too, but they're slowly trickling into the Carolinas. That's the only reason I'm here. I will say that the water in Florida is the only thing I would miss considerably. The springs are magical and I could never live far from the beach. But it's too hot, too conservative, and too boring for my likes. Never too cold in the winter (sunshine every day) and the summers are hot like 80s but it's not humid! I really miss having the ocean in my life and would prefer a coast. Alaska is too far from family, same for Hawaii but if I were living in Hawaii I'm sure I'd have lots of guests. I've lived in the south and loved it. Grew up in the north east, love California. Every time I visit I get so frustrated by how slow every thing moves. I would eventually like to live on the west coast, I had always said when I turned 40 I would be living in Newport Beach, but that doesn't look like it's happening any time soon. Where I live now it's a good six hour drive to the ocean and it's the only thing I hate about living here. I wouldn't want to live any farther from the coast. But I COULD live anywhere. I didn't realize how much it was ingrained in my head, though, until I was coming back from camping with my husband. It had been sunny the whole time- totally gorgeous. It got kind of misty on the way home, and I got so excited at the prospect of snuggling up in blankets with a bowl of clam chowder. I was actually disappointed that it was sunny at home.
