We loved our Bjorn, but we had the pricier one (Comfort) with the hip belt that also allowed for different leg positions.

I actually LOVED my bjorn carrier when LO was a newborn--too small for the other carriers but *great* in the bjorn! He could face out or in--there are little leg loops for newborns (but my LO was so big he didn't need them.

Then around 15lbs he was just too heavy for it--my poor shoulders and back! And now I have a soft structured carrier with hip support. I think that bjorn makes an ergonomic carrier with a hip support belt now (yay!).

As a newborn his legs naturally were held up. PLUS they check hips at every well baby visit.

If it works for you--hey. It works for you!

I didn't realize there was anything possibly bad with posture in a baby bjorn - hey, learn something new every day! Will have to investigate this.

We have a baby bjorn synergy, which has more bck support than the original and also breathable mesh. I think its pretty comfortable, I took LO on about a 45 minute walk the other day in it and my back never hurt (she's about 13-14lbs. now).

LO likes it because she can face out, or look around when she faces in. She hates to be swaddled or constricted so she's not a fan of wraps or slings. When she faces in, she falls asleep against me in a matter of minutes; so I like it too!!

DS loved the Baby Bjorn and hated the Ergo. Loved facing out, hated being swaddled in any way. He's 10 months old and I still use the Bjorn. I've always used the Bjorn for short trips (like going to a store) and the Ergo for day trips (like going to a baseball game.. he still hates it but now that he's bigger he can move his head around so he's not right in my chest).

Meh, I liked the Baby Bjorn for when my kids were young and going through a Moby strike. We didn't get an Ergo until DD was over a year, so we carried her in the Bjorn until that point. I thought it was fine. Easy to put on/take off, the baby can face inward or outward, portable, and cheap. Once the kids get to a certain height, I can no longer wear them in the Bjorn, though, because I'm too short. DS was too big by about 12 weeks, so we switched over to the Ergo pretty early.

We have a Beco Gemini which is super comfy, and I got it because the baby can face forward. Granted, she's only 11 weeks so we haven't had tons of use yet, but she seems to like it so far.

@TurtleDoves: hahaha!! oh good ;) cuteness is key ;)
SSC is a soft structured carrier; such as an ergo, bjorn, beco etc. Basically means not a wrap, sling or mei tei.

@TurtleDoves: my LO was born at 6lbs 9oz but he quickly packed on the pounds and he has consistently been in the 75th percentile since. At 10-12 weeks I still used my moby and he weighed 14-15lbs? I am generally more tolerant than most when it comes to pain/discomfort and I've never had back issues either. Some people love their baby bjorn and there's a reason why it's been around for so long and is still so popular!

@Mrsbells: I've seen that pic....Makes me want to invest in an Ergo ot Beco Gemini....but maybe i'll use my BB until I seriously get sick of it or until baby gets uncomfortable. I feel so bad I bought it....thank goodness I bought it from CL!
@Sammyfab: I should be at or around 110lbs when I get rid of the baby weight too, so when should I expect baby to be 19lbs? I know nothing about baby weight other than my LO is due in a few days and estimated at 6lbs. You think we'll be ok for our December trip? He will be between 10w-12w depending on if we go before or after holidays.

@Mrsbells: what a great visual! I love that.

Never had good experiences with the Bjorn (used it as a nanny). I have the Beco and unlike the Ergo, you can use it starting at 7 lbs! He did't care for it early on though, he liked the sling or wrap as a nb until 4 months. Then he liked the SSC's.

We loved it for when LO was too little for the Ergo. I also had a sling and a Moby wrap and I hated them both- the baby bjorn was ridiculously easy, and felt really secure to me.
Also, since we only used it when LO was really little (first couple of months or so? Can't remember exactly when we switched to the ergo), and I never wore him for THAT long, I didn't find it to be too hard on my back or anything. It was great for a quick 10 minute dog walk, or a quick trip to the store when I wanted my hands and didn't want to deal with sticking the car seat on top of or in a shopping cart.

I have been using the Ergo since LO was born (with the newborn insert and then without) and I love it. She feels really secure in there and the straps and waist belt seem to distribute the weight evenly so my back and shoulders don't suffer too much.

I used a friend's BBjorn a couple weeks ago and I found that my back and shoulders started to hurt almost right away. But my LO is around 16lbs, so I'm sure it's much more comfortable with a smaller baby.

I think I'm done researching carriers, and the Ergo, followed by Beco Butterfly, seem like the most highly rated ones that might work for me. I think we're hoping to get a Moby initially (which are very hit or miss) and an Ergo for later on (4-5 months? they have an infant insert but reviews are very mixed).

Only you can really decide if the Baby Bjorn is good for you and your LO--maybe you will both love it,! And if you don't, maybe you can sell it? Since you already own it, it's worth a try.

The Beco Butterfly is supposed to work really well when they're tiny, not as well when they're larger, but it might be another option for your Disneyland trip.

We got a baby bjorn as a hand-me-down and we also have a pognae (similar to the ergo). He can't face out in the pognae but he is in absolute heaven when facing out in the baby bjorn so ill use it for short walks. He is almost 19 lbs and I weigh 110. It's tolerable but not comfortable and I do feel bad about the crotch dangling thing...but he loves it. It's also super easy to take on and off.

If I could do it all over I would get the Beco as our one and only carrier since you can do forward facing with it.

We have an ergo and lurrrrve it. The graphic @Mrsbells: posted says it all for me. DH used the ergo w the infant insert from the time she was 6 weeks old and LO was always super happy in there. I don't mind the insert at all, I felt like it kept her extra cuddled in when she was so little a floppy. It's incredibly comfortable and easy to use.

The one good thing I have heard about them is that the baby can face in or out. I know facing out isn't as good for their hips, but I've heard from people whose babies were only happy if they could face out and see the world. But, if you have back problems (I do too) I seriously wouldn't risk it. It sucks to waste money, but how much worse would it be to have horrible back pain and have to take care of your baby?
That said-- I've never used a baby carrier! But I think I will get a Beco, Gemini I think-- the one that you can use face in or out and it gets good reviews for being easy on your back.

we have the baby bjorn and also the ergo. The baby bjorn is good for short term carrying (less than 30 minutes) and for when the bay is really small ( under 3 months) I wouldnt use it on a baby older than that because they get too heavy, it isnt comfortable for you and it isnt good for their hips because it doesnt carry them in a comfortable sitting position. I posted this pic before about the comparison of ergo vs baby bjorn.
The only thing about the ergo is you have to wait unti the baby is atleast 4 months old to use it, or you have to use the insert which is a bit awkward to use

I've heard that it just isn't as comfortable for the mama using it...and that wearing the baby facing out is not good for their hips. But I think wearing baby facing in is fine when they're small, before they get too heavy. In terms of other soft structured carriers, I've heard raves about the Ergo. We got one and I am excited to use it! Also heard good things about the Beco.

Right when I got pregnant, I got super excited and bought the same baby carrier I saw my lovely girl Beyonce carrying her baby in. I basically knew nothing about it except that it was cute and it was in a bunch of magazines.
Needless to say: I was naive and ever since I've been a research crazed mama to be and I realized the BB probably isn't the greatest for me. But, this post is trying to find some BB fans out there, if you exist!
My chiropractor (yeah, did I mention I already have back issues) said I could probably use it without problems until the baby is about 16w old.
Now, I feel like I wasted my time & money......is there anything else that is good about this carrier that I don't see? Did anyone have a good experience with it? and for how long?
*We have a Disneyland trip planned for when LO is 12w and I plan to wear him there ....yay or nay?

*Oh ETA: if you recommend any carriers: obviously feel free to tell me which. I am not into the wrap or sling type though.
