@daniellemybelle: Haha, I think I should now clarify that after I wrote the above response, it hadn't happened since!

@Rubies: I don't have a LO but even I can see how awesome that is!!!

I know most of you are talking about infants/young toddlers, but I nannied a 2 year old (24-27 months), and I made him stay in his room until 6:30am if he woke up before then. He was really easygoing so he got used to it and would sort of roll around and talk to himself until I came and got him... but he would never go back to sleep!

Our LO sleeps on a floor mattress too and we lay down next to him when he gets up. He usually falls asleep right away.

LO used to wake up that early (sometimes 4am) and i would nurse him and put him back in the crib. he would sleep until 7:30 or 8. that was when he was 4-7 months old. Now that he is a little older, he refuses to go back to sleep even when he wakes up at 5:30am, so we're up for the day.

@artbee: LO sleeps on a mattress on the floor so I'll just get next to her and feed her lying down. Works about 95% of the time! :)

@chopsuey119: Feeding my LO doesn't help. If I actually pick her up, she's up for the day.

@rubies: How awesome that you discovered that! You'll be getting a lot more sleep from now on!

In the past (ie. before last week), if LO woke up between 5am-6am, I'd maker her CIO until at least 6am and then we'd be up for the day. But I discovered that if I nurse her in this window, she can go back to sleep until 8-8:30am. I discovered this by accident - last week she was crying at 5:20am and I was going to let her CIO but I thought I'd just get up. I nursed her and she seemed tired so I put her in her crib again and the next thing I know, I'm waking up to her babbling at 8:15! I've done this 4-5 more times.

It's the worst when LO wakes up before 7! Usually she'll fall back asleep if I nurse her.

Lo woke up at 6 today, ugh! Hubby flipped her over because she was on her belly (she hates being on her belly) and she gave us another half hour. I flipped her over then and now it's after 8 and she's still asleep! Unfortunately I couldn't fall back asleep, but it's still nice to relax in bed!

It doesn't always work to flip her, but when it does it's awesome! Are you ever able to get lo back to sleep?
