Right now LO calls the two trains we have “trains with faces”.<br /> My husband seems to think that Thomas sets are a good quality and that we can live with the “faces” for a sturdy set that will last two or maybe more kiddos. So at the hobby shop we go to each set is $25-75 for the smaller to medium ones and the big/elaborate ones are over $100 sometimes.</p> <p>ETA: The tracks and train shed alone is $100-200 depending on how much was with the original set. If the character is what matters, it's a great deal because character-specific sets become unavailable after their first manufacturing run, so to amass such a huge collection would take a lot of time and money (to buy from different sources).</p> <p>If it's just trains you are after, it's probably not a great deal - you can cobble together real Brio and Amazon matches for less.
