I totally clicked who cares. Hahahaha. If he's waking, happy, eating, going back to sleep...ah, I'd just let it be. At the same time, I'm not exactly an expert at this. :)

@buffalove: I thought my son was going to suffocate himself with his stuffed elephant this morning but I didn't dare take it away because it was very firmly grasped in his sleep. I just checked on him like 10 times in 45 mins instead ; )

@winniebee: In the last month it's definitely gotten longer - prob about 30 minutes before he's back asleep (so up for about an hour total with diaper change and bottle). On weekends I'll often let him play on my lap for 20 min or so til the yawns and eye rubbing get more frequent, but during the week he's on his own to coo, grab his feet, etc. He's totally content to do that, but lately he's started to put the lovey over his face so I have to take it away if he doesnt go right back to sleep.

@buffalove: Does your little guy take awhile to fall back asleep? Sometimes it's cooing for 15 mins....then asleep. Sometimes it's cooing, rolling, playing, cooing for 30 mins then asleep!

My guy does the same thing! And we do the same thing - get ready for work during the week and go back to bed on weekends....I love that time.

LMW does this sometimes! Lately we have been ignoring her unless she's crying for more than 60 seconds straight or so. Usually she's just cooing or screeching, sometimes she cries on and off for a few minutes, but lately she's been falling back asleep (without a feeding or changing! we don't go in) for another hour, or two, or three!

@littlek: Yeah, it's been so much better than him being up at 5:30! On weekends we just turn off the monitor/shut the door and get another hour or more of sleep! On the work days, I get up and get ready for work before he gets up.

I voted "who cares", mostly because that's great he's falling asleep again. I'm not sure if it's a night waking since it's the morning or a nap. I know my LO does the same thing, he wakes up around 6 or 7 a.m. and eats and then falls asleep again.

@Weagle: That's what I thought...but then I thought of many babies who wake overnight and it takes them awhile to go back to sleep for whatever reason. I'm leaning towards "night waking" since it's still dark when he wakes up : )

Not sure. Usually when my LO wakes at that time I can nurse her (no diaper changes) and she goes right back to sleep, and I consider it a night waking. If it takes 30 min-1 hr for her to go back to sleep, I usually say it's a nap.

My son is an early riser - he usually wakes between 5-6 on most days. My rule as of a few weeks ago is he cannot get up for the day before 6. So, when he wakes (happy), I let him coo for a few minutes while I assess the situation, go in and feed him and change him, and put him back in his crib with a lovey or sometimes a soft toy. He rolls around, coos, plays for sometimes up to 30 minutes before falling back asleep. He's 7 months.

Today he woke at 5:40, was fed by 6 and then fell back asleep at 6:30. He will probably sleep another 45 mins-1 hr. (This is a much better situation for daycare since it doesn't open til 7 and he often does not get a morning nap until 8:30/9). Not that it really matters to me, but do you think this is considered a night waking or a nap?
