I love my local moms group! I posted there and eventually was pmd the cell phone of a pediatric dentist (the mom who pmd me works for the dentist), and texted the dr. to say I was calling...

And even though it's a Sunday and she was home with her family, she picked right up and asked a few questions and told me it could wait a couple of days...not much they can do except do an X-ray to see if the root is damaged. In the meantime, soft foods only and Tylenol if she's in pain.

@Anagram: maybe you can just show up at her dentists office first thing when they open and they will see you? I have patients do that all the time.

@yellowbird: She seemed to be in a lot of pain at first, so it freaked me out. She's had some pretty big falls that cause goose eggs on her head before, and all of those she would just cry hard for a few minutes. This time, she was scream crying for a full 15 minutes, while I tried to call her ped, her dentist, and two other dentists.

However, I eventually got her calmed down and she drank some ice water...and then I gave her advil. This happened almost 2 hours ago now (STILL waiting for a call from anyone), so eventually I gave her a pouch instead of food and put her down for a nap. She did fall asleep (after some more crying), so I think she's in pain but not severe pain.

I guess I have to plan on taking a day off work tomorrow and assume someone will call back and I'll get to take her in? Augh...I JUST took a day because the baby is sick. Being a parent blows sometimes.

@Anagram: is she in a lot of pain? Does she seem okay and acting normally? Can you take your finger up where her roots would be and feel any thing with light pressure like her root is displaced?

It will either need to be extracted or be watched for re-eruption. Probably an X-ray but I don't think you would have to run out and be seen today but call first thing tomorrow.

@Anagram: does your health insurance have an advice nurse you could call? They should be able to tell you what type of resources and care you could get atthe hospital.

My friends husband is an oral surgeon and he is frequently on call at our local hospital. Meaning - maybe there is someone there who can help if you can't get in touch with another dentist? Avoiding ER if possible is probably best though!

I hope she feels better soon

I don't know if the ER could do anything, but I do think they can make referrals for emergency dental care. I'd probably do it in your situation!

I have no idea if my dentist office has an emergency line but I think they do. They are in Ridgewood though. Let me know if you want me to send you their info via FB.

I would want it to be looked at ASAP but I don't think an ER would help bc I don't think they usually have dentists on staff. I could be wrong though,

It's a sunday, so everything is closed. I've called LOs pediatrician and left a message, as well as her dentist, and a couple of random dentists that seem to have emergency lines--but haven't gotten a call from any of them. So...crowdsourcing here:

LO1 (2.5 years old) fell off a chair and her face hit another chair on the way down, pushing one of her front teeth back up into the gum line. It looks like it's just erupting, except you know...she's had this tooth forever.

Is this something we go to the ER about? I can't get an answer from a real health professional yet.
