For us it was a phase, she is 2 1/2 and still enjoys riding in her stroller for longer outings. However, we do deal with a lot of in/out/in/out which can get a little frustrating!

It passed for us. At 21 months DD will sit in the stroller now but I have to leave the arm straps undone and just do the waist straps.

Can you try one of those little tricycles that have a handle for an adult? That would be my call if I had to walk my 3 year old for any long distances.

DS is 17 months and goes through off and on phases of hating getting in his car seat. He will be fine for a month, then start arching his back and tantruming the second I put him in it.

We don't use the stroller a lot now that it's winter, but when I take him to the mall he's fine as long as the stroller keeps moving lol

My LO quit his stroller at 14 months and refuses to get in. He's now 2 and still won't use it.

Oh yes, I think it's a phase. They are learning to walk/run and gaining independence so they want to try to make a break for it. Stay on your toes! Put them in when they are sleepy and they might like it again. :) But don't feel like you 'have to' use the stroller. Stretching their legs is mostly a good thing, except in huge crowds, traffic etc. :)

@illumina: I walked with him, I pushed his big stroller, I let him push his doll stroller. At a certain point, though, he'd have to go into the stroller, but I would warn him in advance. And then I'd put him in at the point I told him. Took him a few times to get used to the idea, but it has to be done, you know?

@looch: oh crap! This is what I'm worried about! How did you cope? I just assumed since I see 3-4yr olds in strollers all the time, they all love being in there!

It might pass, it might not. My son quit his stroller at 18 months and didn't tolerate being in it unless we were at places like Disney and he just couldn't keep up.

LO is 16 months and the past month or so she has disliked being confined by the stroller, car seat, ergo and even being carried for more than a few seconds. She never used to fuss at all, but now she whines pretty much constantly...I carry on going wherever we are going but after 5-10 minutes she is in floods of tears!

I get it, she just wants to walk everywhere, but sometimes it's not possible!

Does it pass and she won't mind the stroller etc. so much in future? The other day SIL was saying that with her youngest she refused to go in the stroller around 18 months and they had to just walk her everywhere! :(
