thanks all! @Cherrybee: ugh, so sory you're dealing with it too! new baby is a hard transition, we're still managing the fallout from it :meh:

@Adira: @Anagram: good to know that ongoing accidents are normal, and thanks both for the advice re timing - you're probably right, just have to get it right and make it routine.

LO1 has been trained for a few months, but even now she only tells us she has to go 75% of the time. The rest of the time, I have to watch the clock and just put her on the potty every 2-3 hours.

For us, we don't get fighting if we work the potty into our natural schedule. So we always have to potty when we wake up, before leaving the house, before and after nap, before leaving the house again, before bed--we tend to go to the park or whatever a couple times a day, so it works out.

When it's a normal part of the schedule, we don't get the fighting. Any time I try to have her stop playing to potty, she fights it, just because she wants to keep playing.

After Xander was potty trained, we had a string of accidents months later. I'm not sure if it was related to anything or not, but after a few weeks (or maybe it was a month????), it stopped. We had to get better about taking him more regularly, but it was a learning process too - if we took him too soon, he'd fight us, and if you went too late, obviously there was an accident. We had to learn the correct timing to take him, but we've been accident-free for a while now, so hopefully you'll get there soon too!

We are going through the same thing (although we have a stressor by way of a new baby in the mix). I feel like E has lost the motivation for it. It was fun at first but now its just a chore and yet another thing she is being dictated to about, so she tries to exert control by refusing to go when asked. I've put her back in pull ups temporarily and I'm going to make a star chart and try again in a couple of weeks.

We are currently trying to potty train DD, who is 2.5. We started casually at the beginning of the year and she was great and then we had some upheaval with school and a new baby so we stopped for a while. Started again two weeks ago and for the first five days she did really well, no accidents at all and was telling us before she had to go. Since then, she doesn't seem able to tell when she needs to go and wees on the floor unless we take her regularly (which she fights like a demon).

Is it normal to have a regression without any stressors?
