I just noticed the same thing with our 5+ month old. While he's getting better at playing alone with his toys for a few minutes he is also better at telling (read:yelling) me when he wants attention! He's in daycare three days a week and I think he's used to having a lot of people and commotion to keep him amused. So when it's just mom he gets bored. After work I tend to wear him while I get stuff done but that doesn't work when I'm in my work clothes in the morning... He's a spitter. ;)

My daughter is 5.5 months and we're experiencing the same. Sometimes she is tired again depending on how well she's napping, but sometimes she's definitely bored. Looking forward to warmer weather - she's always entertained by being outside.

My son wanted constant attention or stimulation until at least age 1. He would only even go in his jumper for 15 mins at a time. Sounds normal to me :)

@illumina: That would be my guess! She's probably frustrated that she can't do very much on her own and probably gets bored too. I bet once she's more mobile, she'll be happier! Until she hits tantrum phase. :D And Xander didn't get rolling until 7+ months, so we were in the same boat as you for a while!

@Adira: she sits up unaided, but that's it. She doesn't roll, still hates tummy time but loves to sit and stand when held. You're probably right about the wanting to move thing...if we are standing her holding her hands she will take steps and she gets the biggest smile on her face like she is so proud of herself...hopefully she'll be happier when she can do more under her own steam!

@mrsmate: nothing really different. Mostly she waits whilst I prepare her food milk or solids or we just "chat" or I change her etc. She is just so smiley and then it gradually goes downhill from about 30mins until the next naptime. .

@illumina: Also, how mobile is she? I feel like there was a phase where Xander wasn't very mobile and he required constant interaction and entertainment! Once he was able to start crawling around and getting to things on his own, he became a little more independent.

@Rubies: @Adira: I thought it was teething, which it probably is partly...she has one already and I'm sure others are on their way! But mostly boredom I guess...if I read to her and then put the book down as soon as it's finished she cries until I pick another one up. Then if she's in her jumperoo she's only happy if I'm sat on the floor right next to her!

What do you guys do during the 30min? With my LOs I try to alternate playing alone time and playing with mom time. I think at the 6mo mark we'd switch gears every 10-15min.

You've eliminated all the obvious stuff, right? She's not hungry, gassy, dirty diaper, etc. Maybe teething pain? Boredom? I'm not really sure... Good luck to you. <3

Could it be that because she's just needing more stimulation during her awake time? Or, do you feel she is, like, abnormally fussy? My daughter is almost 6 months and becomes restless and whiney if she's not entertained...

Sorry, I feel I'm not helping! I hope it's just a phase!

Sorry for the extremely vague title, I couldn't think of anything to describe this... LO is 6.5 months and when she wakes up for the day/from a nap is literally THE sweetest baby ever... for about 30 minutes and then becomes THE fussiest baby ever and we have to almost constantly entertaining/interacting with her to stop her fussing. Does this sound normal? If not, what makes her flip after that short of an awake time? I'm not sure how long it has been going on for, maybe weeks? She's always been very fussy, it just seems more obvious now.
