Great, thanks for all the responses. It sounds like a normal kind of thing. I'll keep an eye on her water drinking but she doesn't have accidents inside so I'm thankful for that. I have changed her walking schedule so it might have something to do with that, too. She is getting older, she is getting cataracts, so I'm keeping a closer eye on her lately.

When we take my dogs on a walk, they will go 5+ times and I think they are marking their territory because they don't go that much at home.

If she only does the frequent pees on walks and not in the house or when you take her out real quick, it's normal. Both of my dogs pee about 700 times each walk without so much as a sniff and I can tell they are squeezing it out just to mark their territory. Sometimes no pee comes out after several blocks because there's nothing left! Just being dogs. If you notice she's squatting and whimpers or jumps up real quick and tries to pee in a new spot that could be a UTI. Also look out for dark colored or bloody urine, but accidents in the house are the big indicator. I used to work at a vets office :)

She's gorgeous!

It could be a UTI. Vet visits can be costly but I would take her in, just in case, if you notice her continuing to do this. A round of antibiotics usually clears it up quickly :)

Your dog is super cute!

Both of our dogs pee constantly on walks... they're both stopping to pee on something. I just figured it's something they do and maybe they enjoy it?! When she's peeing is there much coming out? Our dogs sometimes just pee a couple of drops and even if they're not sniffing around I'm pretty sure they're still marking their territory.

My dog is 8.5 and she was peeing a lot - both outside and inside, and turned out she had a bladder infections and bladder stones :crying:

HOWEVER, at her healthy normal self, she pees a lot along walks too to mark (and she'd just squat down all of a sudden too), I think she just marks along her trail?

It could be bladder stones. Our dog had those and she peed all the time, sometimes couldn't even get out the door. I would call your vet and see what they say. They could give you a time line to watch her and see if there is any change or something like that

Does she hold it in the house? My dog can go 10-12 hrs no prob inside. But he pees literally 30 times when we walk him. He is definitely trying to stake his claim on the whole damn neighborhood. :)

could be normal and could be a UTI - Do you have a yard? Does she pee a lot there too?

When I take my dog out she pees every 5 feet :silly: But when in the backyard she never pees

Can you keep track of water intake/output for a few days? Like measure how much is going in bowl, how often she drinks/you need to fill it and when she goes out to pee or you walk her.... Then maybe call and ask to speak with one of the techs instead of bringing her in to the vet. They may want you to bring in a sample just to check kidney function or UTI.

She is adorable! I don't know if it is normal or not but I can share that my dog can hold it for 12 hours plus when he is at home (it is extremely rare for him to need to but some days it happens and other times it's raining and he just holds it until he is desperate.) Then other days we will go for a walk and in the course of a two mile walk he will stop to go 4-5 times. He doesn't typically mark territory either and it's usually pretty obvious when he does.

My dog pees a lot. I think she went 7 times in our walk this morning, which consisted of about 3 blocks. My husband says she is just marking her territory, but most of the time she isn't sniffing around, she just walks and then suddenly stops and pees. She is a purebred 8 or 9 year old dog so my vet says she probably won't last more than a couple years. She isn't drinking a ton. This is my first dog so I don't know too much about stuff like this. We did move from a rural setting to a more suburban setting so could that be part of it? Vet visits are expensive so I don't want to take her in if it isn't really necessary or this is a normal thing older dogs do.
Ignore the socks in the picture, that was when she had some foot thing where she wouldn't leave them alone.
