@lovelife: Hi their, did you ever find out what was going on with your child? My daughter does the same thing ever since she was just a few months old. Now she is 3 years old; recently she started to do it again and I am deeply concerned and I am trying to find answers. Thank you very much for your time and hope all is well with your little one.

My LO did something similar when she was about 6 weeks old. It was very scary but turned out to be a benign type of muscle spasm similar to a hiccup. Her leg muscles would tighten up and shiver or kick but I could tell she wasn't having a seizure cause her eyes didn't roll back (in fact she would look straight into my eyes). However, since she was so young, the doctors ran tests to confirm that it was harmless. Her muscle spasms stopped after 2 weeks but I hear that it can last up through 1 year old. Forgot what the actual condition was called though. Definitely check with your Dr.

My DD did this at about that age and the doctor said it had to do with an immature neuro system. She eventually grew out of my the time she was a little over a year!

My cousin did this from a VERY young age. He would tighten all the muscles in his body and shake a little and his face would get all red. And he totally did it when he was mad (and it was usually followed by screaming). They just kind of wrote it off as part of his personality. He's 7 now and actually has ADHD but I highly doubt there is any correlation. I don't give you that info to scare you, just giving the facts. And honestly the ADHD doesn't really affect his life or his parents lives much anyway. He's on mild meds that completely control his symptoms.

Sounds like a tantrum. Baby Bear doesn't do that, but she does "fall out" sometimes. (goes limp) Yeah...at 9 months.LOL

@chopsuey119: I don't think it is when she is peeing or pooping.. The shiver is when she gets excited and isn't controlled. but the new tightening and shaking is something she is controlling. so I'm almost thinking it behavioral? kind of like a tantrum, but I didn't think a 9 month old could have a tantrum. She did it once when she was mad and we laughed a little bit so she kept doing it and would laugh after as well.

@lovelife: DId you see my comment?
Luckily I copied it!
Hurmm.. my LO's never done this. Does she do it when she's pooping/peeing? Might be a pee shiver? My LO pee shivers all the time.

My LO is 9 months old and she has started to do this thing and it kind of worries me. She will straighten her legs and arms and stiffen them, then shake her upper her body and her face gets red. shes been doing this frequently today. She also gets the shivers when she gets overly excited. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
