The insert is necessary for more than height, it's meant to provide support for the spine to prevent slumping. If it's too hot or not fitting, another carrier would be better.

@Alba4: check YouTube for a tutorial if needed! Just roll up a swaddle and kind of sit their butt on it. Works for my 11ish pound 9 week old peanut!

@Mrs.. champagne: Looks good! I've been using my Maya ring sling, since it's too hot for the Ergo insert here too! My gargantuan boy (15 lb 8 oz at 10 weeks old) is too heavy to wear comfortably on one shoulder! I'm attempting the Ergo tomorrow! You've inspired me!

@gingerbebe: I'm using a muslin blanket too. Seems to be ok.

@JoyfulKiwi: I think her legs stayed like that! I could kiss her head and it was up right.

Looks fine. We tucked a rolled AA muslin under my baby's tush for the same reason.

I'm not an expert but I wore my newborn in a similar carrier (a boba) and that looks okay to me. Is she snug and do her legs stay in that "froggy" position? If so, and her head/airway are clear and in a good position, then I'd say you're doing fine.

DD is two months old. She likes to be held a lot and I cannot get my baby ktan to work. I think it's too big.

Anyway, I watched a few YouTube videos about using a blanket for a small baby in the ergo instead of the insert. The insert is way too hot in my opinion to use right now. It's really hot here currently.

Does this look ok? Not at all?! I wore my son in the ergo but when he was like 9 plus months and never before that.
