@highwire: hahahahaha. Hubs will also Truro have intense conversations with me about stupid shizzle when I'm trying to take care of the baby!! Men!

I'm glad the doc was able to figure it out. Don't feel guilty... Letting the ear infection go untreated wouldn't have been good for her. I would say as long as LO doesn't have a fever in the morning I would send her to school.

@MamaMoose: said it was an allergic reaction to the antibiotics! You ladies are so smart :)

Of course we got to the doctor and the fever was gone and so was the rash. But tonight the rash was back and all over her body. Ugh.

But now I'm having serious mommy guilt for giving her medicine that made her more sick. She wasn't miserable until I decided to take her in and discovered the ear infection last week amd put her on the antibiotics. And now that the rash is back do I still go to work/take her to daycare tomorrow.

And DH is vibrantly wanting to discuss the history of the Dallas Cowboys. I. Do. Not. Care. I am distracted. Blah.

It could be the antibiotics. My son got a rash the day after he stopped a 10 day treatment. It went away pretty quickly and didn't bother him at all. By the time we got to the pediatrician the rash was mostly gone.

@regberadaisy: nope doesn't seem to bother her. But maybe she was uncomfortable last night since she was uncharacteristically inconsolable unless she was on my chest

My son had a reaction to his antibiotics on day 9 of 10 of the dosing, so it's possible that it could be a reaction to the abx that late in the game. My son had a splotchy rash and was warm to the touch when we brought him in. We suspected it was fifths disease or hand/foot/mouth disease, but it ended up being a reaction to the abx.

my brother is allergic to penicillin, I believe. or amoxocillin. definitely one of those two - @yoursilverlining has a good point that it could be a reaction to that. how long has she been on the rx since you noticed the rash?

wonder if the fever is coincidental but unrelated? just throwing things out there. sorry, not too helpful! lol.

It could be a reaction to the antibiotics (Amoxicillin?) bc that does not show up till the tail end or after they're done with it. The fever could be unrelated to the rash?

Oh sorry her pedi appointment is at 2! Definitely getting her checked out today.

She was really warm a day or two ago but no fever according to thermometer. This morning it was 100 but she doesn't feel warm now.

I don't know what roseola is, but is there a chance your LO might be allergic to whatever antibiotic she is on (though probably not if she has been on it for a week and just got symptoms now? I'm allergic to tons of antibiotics so I'm always concerned about that possibility!).

When LO had a food allergy, she got red, itchy splotches all over her trunk, hands and diaper area, but not really on her face and she had the reaction within a few hours following ingesting the item.

Hope your LO feels better soon!

For M, the rash appeared after the fever went away. I would go to the ped to see if they can figure out what it is.

A food allergy wouldn't cause fever. With all the allergy issues we've had with M nothing has ever shown up on her face. Since you had to leave work for the day anyway I would probably just go ahead and take C to the pediatrician to get checked out.

With roseola the rash *usually* does not appear until AFTER a few days of fever and the fever is gone.

Had to leave work today because baby had a fever! She also had two wakeups last night that included hysterically screaming unless I was holding her. That was her first MOTN wakeup in months.

She had an ear infection last week and is still on antibiotics for it!

What do you think? Roseola? Food allergy? We tried peas this weekend...
