My son has been doing this too for about a month and a half and he is 13 months old now. I was thinking the same thing you were but in our case my son is also very needy of me during the day. I did come across this though which may explain the wake ups. I guess between 12-14 months babies start to REALLY dream and it can disrupt their sleep. Hope little E is not having nightmares. http://www.babycenter.com/6_your-13-month-old_5906.bc?scid=mbtw_post13m&pe=MlVCcTZTNnwyMDEzMTAwMg..

Omg - DD is doing the exact same thing! It's probably developmental since they are so close in age. I'm exhausted!

@stargal: He's been doing it for a week now :( This morning DH switched off with me but for the past few days I've been bringing him into our bed. Once he's in with us he goes to sleep just fine! It's definitely my go to!

@keiki_mama: He's 12 months. He cut one tooth at the end of last week and I was thinking it would go back to normal once it was through but maybe he has more coming!

How old is your LO? Mine is 18 months and we just went through something like this! He was cutting 4 teeth at once and his night sleep was completely thrown off! He had to sleep with me (and me only). He would shoo DH away, lol! It lasted for 2 weeks.

hmm I think it could be separation anxiety or maybe he was just having an off night? If it continues can you bring him into bed with you so that you could get some sleep?

I don't know what's going on with my son's sleep. He's been sleeping through the night perfectly well for months. There have been ups and downs here and there because of teething, milestones, etc. In those instances though it's only been a night on and off until whatever is going on had been resolved.

For the past week he has been waking up once or twice between 3 and 5. Instead of just putting himself back to sleep (like he had been doing) he screams as if he's in pain until DH or I goes into his room. Once we're in there he's fine. He'll even be happy if we sit next to his crib within touching distance. If he can hold my hand/stroke my arm he's happy even though he is still wide awake. As soon as we try to leave he freaks out completely. We can't even sit in the corner of the room in the glider because we're out of touching distance.

Last night he was awake from 3-5am, laying in his crib with one of us sitting next to his crib. Does he just miss us? I just want to know what the problem is. If it's just separation anxiety I'm fine with being there for him.

If you went through this, how long did it last? Ideally I'd like his sleep a little more sorted out before the new baby arrives next month but if it's not I guess we'll just deal with it as we go!
