@BabyBoecksMom: Thanks! She won't take a pacifier right now and seems to be constantly getting food (I use a shield and there's always milk on it) so I guess it probably is both right now.

@mandb36: It sounds like it could be a mix of everything and it might take her a little bit to get back in the swing of what's "normal". I remember my LO figured out the comfort nursing around that time, and I had to start giving her the pacifier to give my nipples a break. And it seemed like she ate constantly between 4 and 6 weeks.

@BabyBoecksMom: She turned 4 weeks old yesterday.

She's also had a harder time with being put down. Before everything happened, she was fine with being put in the swing after falling asleep to allow me to eat or clean up a bit. The past few days I've pretty much had to constantly hold her except at night (thankfully). This may just be a new phase but I wasn't sure if it was a phase or if it had to do with all of the chaos last week.

We had a rough week last week so I know my little girl has to be stressed at least somewhat. We finally had as much of a routine as possible when my father-in-law passed away unexpectedly and we headed home.

The routine was completely turned upside down with being in a new place, meeting a ton of new people, having more places to go such as the funeral and family gatherings, and the introduction of a bottle of pumped milk so that all of this would be easier (and others could watch her from time to time).

She started what I thought was her three week growth spurt last Friday. She ate all day and did pretty much the same on Saturday. On Sunday though she seemed to go back to sleeping in between bigger feedings so I thought it was over. But she's been nursing almost constantly again with it being the light fluttering most of the time. Her sleep at night is inconsistent too with her sleeping six hour stretches some nights and only sleeping two hours at a time other nights.

Today she's been nursing constantly and become fussy. Is this still the growth spurt? Last time it was pretty consistent cluster feeding with a lot of sleep at night. Or could she be comfort nursing due to all the changes? We came home Sunday night if that helps. Either way is this just something I need to keep riding out?
