Mine just started doing this too! I've started ignoring her and I start playing with her toys and narrating now much fun I'm having. And she stops and comes over to see what I'm doing.

Yeah sounds like a tantrum. I will say... that I didn't notice tears for a while... one time I told DH ... aww this must be real.. he has tears!! DH just scoffed at me and said LO always has tears. I said no... but then after that... I did start noticing he has tears all the time... that little faker!! :)

Yep, sounds like it! If we are at home, we tend to ignore them, but if we are out we have to do time-outs and/or remove her from the situation so she can calm down.

@loveisstrange: Thanks.
@LuLu Mom: It's hardest when it's just me and her during the day and I find it tough to ignore. She started crying about something earlier on and DH and I continued talking in the kitchen, next thing we knew she was off in the other room playing nicely with her toys again!
@shopaholic: That's pretty much how I feel right now...confused about it!

Yup. We were a little bit confused and in denial for the first couple of months, but by 16 months, I knew they were tantrums for sure.

Yep, they started around 15 months for us, attention is everything at that age. we walked away and she was like "huh that didn't work."

LO is almost 14 months. Up to this point "tantrums" were mostly just a high pitched squeal and general arching away from something she didn't want to do. We ignored it and carried on about our business.

But lately if we don't let her have something or we have to take something away from her or tell her "no" (you get the picture...) she just breaks down and full on cries...the open mouthed wail that used to only be reserved for when she hurt herself falling over or similar. She does the wail with her eyes scrunched up, then after a few seconds, stops to peep and check we're still watching.

I used to think if there are tears then it's not a tantrum and they need comforting...but I guess I might be wrong reading through some past threads on here.
