My son is very adaptable and he has done both straws and sippys since he was 6 months old. He bottle weaned at 10 months old because we switched to formula and he refused. He's been straight sippy, straws or cup since then. (He does still breastfeed directly from the source)

@Andrea: You know, I strapped her into the high chair and gave the sippy and I left to take a shower. She drank 4 ounces when I got back...so she just won't drink in front of me! lol!

I definitely can't cave now! :-)

Have you taken away the bottle completely? That'll probably be the only way if you're in a bit of a rush. I'd put her milk in the Zoli and stop offering bottles. We went through about a week where she drank very little milk, but she accepted it and started happily drinking milk from the Zoli after that.

My 11 month old did the same. She drinks water from a straw cup only. Last week I tried giving her a straw cup with formula. She took a big sip, scrunched up her face, and spit it all back out. I want to take away the bottle when she turns one so I guess we'll try again in a few days and try to get her used to the formula in a straw cup.

My lo was fine weaning from a bottle cold turkey at 12 months, but we went to dippy because she didn't get the straw until 14 months.

My 11 month old drinks from a straw cup, but there is still a little leakage from his mouth since he opens his lips still when he swallows.

One thing we did to teach him very quickly was to feed him water through a straw (trap water in one end and put a finger on the other), and not release the finger until he sucks on the straw. Then we gave him the straw cup, and he continued on his own- it took only about half an hour to teach.

We use an Evenflo straw cup, that is cheap and works great, it only leaks a little if he holds it directly upside down.

My 11 month old LO drinks water from Zoli straw cup but still needs a bottle for formula or breastmilk.

I bought a Think Baby straw cup and she gets a mouthful of formula and promptly spits it out...and bawls!

I didn't think she could move into the young toddler room until 14 months but a slot just opened for 2013 but she has to be bottle weaned!
