@mailife: My in-laws gave my son a Vietnamese name that I cannot pronounce. I butcher my husband's name too because I cannot grasp the tones. :( We decided to leave the Vietnamese and Chinese given names from his grandparents out of his legal name.

Any future children of ours will be 1/2 Vietnamese and 1/2 Euro Mix and we planed on them having American First + Vietnamese Second + Vietnamese Last. Honestly, I am not crazy about the Vietnamese middle, because I'm worried I will have trouble pronouncing my own child's name. I cannot pronounce my Husbands two middle names well at all.

My husband and I have very Asian names, and we decided to give our children American names. Our son's name is American First + Chinese Middle (my maiden name) + Vietnamese Last. Our last name is actually a very popular American boy's first name, which makes his name sound even less Asian.

I'm Japanese, and my husband is Chinese. We both were born and raised in California. So, we gave our son an American first name, Japanese middle name and his last name is Chinese. So it's the best of 3 worlds.

Charlie is 1/2 Korean, 1/4 Japanese and 1/4 German-Irish... but his name doesn't really reflect any of his ethnic origins. The same is pretty much true for Olive as well. I guess you could say they have American names.

How about you: us your child's name as ethnic as they are?
