Since the ex is married to a current close friend of my husband (that sounds like way more drama than there was) we thought it would be weird to use the name. Since we both liked the name, we ended up using a shortened version of it (the original was a VERY long name) as LO's name. We were set with our girl name before being pregnant so of course DS1 turned out to be a boy! </p> <p>Early in the pregnancy we sat down and listed out what our criteria was. I wanted a name not in the SS Top 100, that had a cute NN, while my husband insisted that it be a name pronounced the same in English and Spanish. That narrowed it to maybe 50 names of which we liked maybe 10?</p> <p>Lorenzo (nn Enzo) was an early frontrunner and a few weeks after we found out the sex we were in love with it. His MN will be Vicente which is my dad's and grandfathers MN. DH doesn't love it (his vote was for Rafael as mn) but acquiesced since he's super close to my dad and thinks it's more meaningful to use a family name rather than an name he just likes. We came up with the name at about six weeks pregnant and were instantly set on it. We never wavered in our decision, although being TG we had to come up with a boy name as well, which was a far harder struggle, so we were glad when LO1 was a girl!</p> <p>For DD2 - I was set on the name Olivia and DH was set on the name Charlotte. We went round and round and round and never came to an agreement, but we did have a boy name picked. Then she was born (another TG baby!) and being a girl, we had to make a decision. We went with C as I liked the name, I just liked O better, but DH really didn't like O at all. Now, two years on, I absolutely LOVE C's name and actually prefer it to DD1's name! </p>
