Mine is extremely organized. They are a not for profit teaching facility on my campus (university)

They do eveythjng "by the book" because they are teaching students how to teach.

In my experience, the organization or lack thereof follows the style of the admin staff. Our director has a very different style than me (she's definitely not type A). So a lot of the communication and things that fall on her shoulders as being school wide I think really aren't to my expectations. But the teachers tend to fall more into my style. It's why we stay, even with my frustrations. I know the teachers love my kids and take care of them. And that's the end goal. If the periodic fun events that are school wide are less organized I try to remember our reason for being there.

We are at a Bright Horizons too and they seem very on top of things. I think a lot of it has to do with experience of staff.

Our daycare/preschool is generally well run, but sometimes they lack communication about upcoming events. Or they will send out various notices with conflicting times/days, and then I have to chase them down to find out which information is correct.

Very organized. We use Hildebrandt Learning Center, which was recently incorporated into Bright Horizons. There was a bit of a shake-up when that happened, but from our end things still seemed to be running pretty seamlessly.

@yoursilverlining: that's funny that you say that about Bright Horizons! DD1 attended one for her first 2.5y (until we moved and I started SAH), and we did love it and most of her caretakers there. BUT, I always felt there were a lot of little admin/org things they could've done to make things better & more transparent for the parents (several of which I told them about during the monthly parent meetings, a handful of which they eventually did sort-of implement). Things like: writing on the whiteboard outside the classroom when one of the primary teachers was out (with a couple days notice, if possible), writing which sub would be filling in that/those days (as soon as they knew)...things that seemed kind of obvious to me, but they didn't do!

That being said, it generally ran very well, we loved it, and I still compare our daycare/preschool situations to it!

I do think a lot of the big centers like that are better run because they have the framework established. But, as a whole, I think some of the caregivers who get promoted to the director/administrator roles aren't always super-strong in managing the business/service side?

They are very well organized for day to day stuff.

Longer term stuff is very disorganized (ex. keeping track of people on the waitlist, making sure they get forms from parents, etc). I have actually heard of several families not going with our daycare because they showed up to get a tour and no one was there, or because admin simply never returned their calls.

Very organized. But they are a huge corporation (Bright Horizons) so they have tons of rules they must follow and plenty of back-up/contingency planning as well as extra staff on hand.

In terms of day to day daycare functions, I think they are pretty organized.

Is it possible to have the name "daycare" and be organized? It seems like every daycare we have been to has been on the ball...most of the time. But then someone gets sick or someone is out for whatever reason and the whole place falls apart. Messages aren't sent to parents, lesson plans aren't done, etc.
