Ours is in our living room which is next to both the kitchen sink and the guest bathroom. It was more convenient because that is where we spend most of our time with him.

There is no room for changing in our bathrooms, they are way too tiny. We change LO in her nursery, but there is a bathroom right next door.

Ours is on top of LO's dresser in her room. I rarely change her on there though, it's usually done in the living room, so I have diapers and wipes in there too.

we don't have a changing table. i got two changing pads and two baskets that are full of the diapers, wipes, etc. one lives in our family room where we spend all our time and one lives in the nursery. the changing pads stay on the floor.

we didn't really have room for a table in either the nursery or our family room or a bathroom. we could have made it work in the nursery, but with two cribs and a small room, it would have killed any other storage for us. and their nursery is upstairs and family room downstairs, so it was essential to have one on each level. there are bathrooms right next to each room and hand sanitizer in the baskets. but since the changing pad is on the floor, i don't have to worry about them squirming off a changing table and can wash my hands in peace :)

Our changing table is in our master bedroom. We have a bathroom in our master so it's easy to access the sink when we need it. The reason we didn't put the changing table in the bathroom is because there's no heater in there and it's freezing during the winter. We purposely bought a changing table (as opposed to a changing pad on top of the dresser) so that we can strap them in while we washed our hands in the bathroom.

We had the changing station in the nursery, which is right next to the bathroom. But when he was around 6 months he tried to launch himself off the changing pad (which was on his dresser) so we moved him to the floor in the living room. I just keep a small tub of diapers, his cream and other little things in there so we can quickly change him.

We have the official changing station in her nursery, but then we have satellite's set up in the living room and our bedroom. You would think we weren't living in a tiny apartment with all the stations.

Ours is set up in her nursery, which is next door to the bathroom. Our bathroom is too small and narrow for a changing station! The nursery is right next to the family room, too, so everything is pretty centrally located. I think.

We have our Pack n Play with changing table in the family room for changing. All of my LO's clothes are located in the Pack N Play, so most of his changings take place there. We also have a changing table in the nursery which gets far less use than our family room one.

@sunny: When Wagon Jr. got REALLY mobile I moved to just changing him on the ground wherever I was... mostly because he was really fighting diaper changes and I had to be a super ninja to get a diaper on him (and usually be distracting him with a toy, my cell phone, the remote... etc). But in that time between I would use the crib or pack n play. When she is able to sit up on her own could you sit her on the bathroom floor as you wash your hands? or maybe you could put something down that she can sit or lie on. We have one of those big flat stuffed animals (Bestever? or something like that) that we used with a changing pad on top... I could see something like that being useful?

@mrs. wagon: ahhhh! Now I wonder if I'm going to have issues with my changing setup when my LO is more mobile. She is only 5 months and just starting to move so I haven't had any problems yet.

I have a long bathroom counter that is long and wide enough to put a change pad next to the sink. When she is able to move I guess it won't be as safe if I'm not standing directly in front of her.

One in the family room, one in the master bedroom. Those are the places she actually hangs out (she's been in her nursery twice in her six weeks of life!), and both have sinks nearby. I always wash my hands after changing her.

Huh-- I never really thought about it. I've always seen the changing table set up in the nursery or someplace close to it, but you are right that the bathroom makes more sense. I guess it's easier in the nursery for late night feeds, you can keep the lights dim to avoid waking the baby up entirely, maybe. Although, what do you do with the baby after you change him while you are washing your hands? You can't just leave him on the change table while you are washing, so I assume you need to bring him someplace to put him safely before washing anyway?

Our current bathroom is way to small to consider anything like that anyway, but it's an interesting thought. My sister had hers set up in the baby's nook which was next to the kitchen, so I would always wash my hands in the kitchen after I put the baby someplace safe when I was babysitting. Except the one time I forgot and didn't realize until I was eating my sandwich, with my hands... :( (pretty sure that was just a wet diaper anyway!)

Our bathroom is teeny tiny- shower stall and a sink, no counter...our baby nook/nursery is small too, but a much more practical place! And not far from the kitchen, where I can easily wash hands.

Haha I wanted to click on "bunnies"!

We have a station in her room (bathroom is right outside her room, no space for a changing station there or any other bathroom in our house!!) and a station in the living room. We have a pack n play set up with a changing station.

We keep a bottle of Purell at each station for diaper changes. If I need to wash my hands it's because of a blowout, and that requires changing of clothes and wipedown of changing station or stripping of changing pad cover and all that... so that becomes much more of a production that requires trips to the bathroom and laundry machine. My main concern is a safe place to leave baby while that's happening. If we're upstairs, it's her crib, and if we're downstairs, it's the pack n play. If we had a changing station in the bathroom there would be no safe place to leave her. (I don't feel comfortable with leaving her on the changing table even with the straps... I have big, strong kids.)

Well, we have a changing table and everything sat up in our room/baby's room, but we have yet to change her there. We always change her in the living room/dining room, on the floor. The garbage can is right there, and then the kitchen is there for hand washing.

Seeing the poop crumb/hand washing thread reminded me that I've never understood why babies are changed in nurseries since you can't easily wash your hands. We have our diaper changing station set up in the bathroom and I recall my parents setting up a change station in the bathroom of my childhood home too. (Although I realize not everyone has the space in their bathrooms!)

Is your change table/station in baby's room, the bathroom or elsewhere and what was your reasoning for putting it there?
