ILs are only two hours away, so in the same time zone (EST). My brother lives in Halifax (AST - Atlantic Standard Time) - 1 hour ahead - and my parents are 1 1/2 hours ahead, in NST, Newfoundland Standard Time. It's always harder to call my parents during the week, because we have to schedule it in the short period bw when we have supper and clean up after, and when my dad goes to bed. He has to get up at 4:30 am to commute, so it's tough. I generally text with him a lot more than my mom, though, so it evens out.

Nope. We are in PST and the rest is in EST. Even my brother who lives in MI (8 hours away from PA) is in EST.

It's so hard to call them early during the weekday. That's why we text.

We didn't used to be - but we were only one hour off. It wasn't too bad, except when someone would forget and call too early in the morning or too late at night!

Since moving back, I keep forgetting and adding an hour and calling. I always call my mom in he morning, but I get up way earlier than her. Not an issue before, but I kept calling her thinking she was an hour ahead still and she wasn't! Don't think she loved the 5:45am wake up calls

Andrea mentioned in a recent thread that it's hard to find time to keep in touch with family across timezones, and I agree! Bee's parents are 3 hours behind us (they live in California), and my parents are 12 hours away (they live in the Philippines)... and it's been tough to schedule calls.

Before I had kids, I never really had trouble keeping in touch with people 3 hours away... since I generally stayed up late and had a lot of time flexibility. But it's a lot tougher with kids, since they go to bed early! Weekends are the best bet now, although we haven't been great about having regular calls. Working on it!
