I mean you can buy a really nice house with about an acre of land for around 175-200k and the house that we bought 2 years ago was assessed at 150k, and then the market brought it down to 123k last year. We just got it assessed this year (for taxes) and it's still at 123k though! We need to move in a few years anyway as we live in a crappy school district (new report just came out that puts us in bottom 20% of the state...) which we knew, but houses in good public school districts around here start around $650K for 2000 sq feet. Sad face again.
