I guess both for now...but with caveats haha. He has been a good nurser since minutes after birth and also has no problems with a bottle. But he's also been a big nighttime cluster feeder. Last night, for example, he ate for three hours straight at bedtime. Exhausting! Similarly, he sleeps well once he actually falls asleep, but it takes a lot of work to get to that point.

She was a terrible sleeper until we sleep trained.

Since then, she's been a good sleeper and an ok eater, although I'd say she's been getting slowly but progressively pickier with time (she's 3).

Mine is 2.5 and middling in both. She does sleep all night (as far as not getting up for extended periods) but she always wakes up and wakes me up, even if it is just to cry out briefly.

She was a great nurser though and did great with solids until she got old enough to realize she could say no. So like most toddlers, she got somewhat picky after 1.5 :silly: She's not a bad eater overall, but I wouldn't call her "great". And I wouldn't call her a great sleeper either, but not terrible.

Right now (knock on wood) both of my kids are both. They have always been great eaters and my oldest has been a great sleeper for probably a year now and my son has 2 months of good sleeping (thanks night weaning) under his belt. I attribute it to being a chill af parent.

We certainly had plenty of challenges during her first year with naps and establishing the ability to fall asleep on her own and with nursing (so many LC visits), but overall and especially now that she's a toddler, I'd say she's great at both. Though we try not to use value statements like "good eater" - want her to develop her own relationship with food. I know we're lucky and I'm nervous how unprepared we'll be if we get a second kid that doesn't like to eat or sleep.

My oldest was neither but, since she started STTN consistently just before her 3rd birthday, she has been an amazing sleeper. Still a terrible eater though!

My baby is a good sleeper by comparison, but not great. She wakes at least once but often several times a night. She is an okay eater - will only eat smooth purees and spits out bland food like porridge - but she's much better than her sister!

My 3 yo has always been an awesome sleeper, but she stopped being a good eater once she had to actually eat. She was super chubby when she nursed and got bottles but now she is a string bean- I think she is just too busy chatting and wanting to play. I end up having to hand her bites until I feel like she has had a reasonable amount.

DD is 2.5 and is a good eater, but still isn't the best sleeper. I'm glad food has never been a battle with her, but would really love a good sleeper the next time around. The first two years were especially rough, sleeping wise.

Both! He's 6.5 months old. He's been STTN since 2 months. He takes a reliable 1.5-2 hr nap after he wakes up, eats, and plays for a bit. He loves veggies a bit more than fruits, but eats anything we put in front of him even the bland cereals.

@travellingbee: you're so right; it's usually one or the other! We have a good eater. He will try anything and is not picky in the slightest. Out of the hundred or so foods he has tried (he's 11 months) he literally has only rejected eggs. Sleep is another story, but it's partially my fault for allowing him to get used to falling asleep with me holding him :/ Oh well. They're only young once, right??

LO just turned 2 and has always been a poor sleeper, though we've had a few decent stretches. I don't know what to say about her eating, she's not picky and will try anything but just isn't interested in food very much. A few bites at each meal is enough, in her mind. I'm not going to push it with her unless the doctor tells me to, and so far he's fine with her weight.

My son has been an amazing sleeper since we sleep trained at 5 months (he's 2 and a half-ish now) but has always been a terrible eater. He dropped to below the 1st %ile before he was 1 and has gradually been clawing his way back up to the 10th. In a way I actually think the two are related for him - he started sleeping through the night when we sleep trained and I think he night weaned before he was ready - I feel like it messed up his hunger cues and the better his sleeping got, the worse his eating got. I will say that it was much easier to deal with the bad eating getting a full nights sleep every night!

My DD (19 months) is a great eater and sleeper. We hit the jackpot with her. Of course, she has her days (and nights) but overall, she's a breeze. She was a tough newborn, but once sleep trained at 5.5 months, her sleep drastically improved and got better and better until she dropped night feeds all together at 10 months.

My 14 month is a great eater, and a decent nighttime sleeper, but a horrible napper. We're at a point right now where about half the time she naps for 1.5 hours total for the day. This is by far the best she's ever napped. And it's far from consistent. But I'll take it. At her low point nap wise, from months 5-10, she was napping an average of 30 minutes total each day, in two or three chunks.

.... or both? I think most babies/toddlers I know are either a good sleeper or a good eater but rarely both. Those magical easy babies I guess.

Both of my boys are amazingly good eaters. Not picky, love fruits and veggies, eat plenty at a sitting... But neither were good sleepers. Although my youngest is MUCH better than my first. He sleeps through the night at times where my oldest didn't until he was 3.
