DD is a righty. She always puts the pen or crayon in her right hand now. We could tell early on that she was a righty.

@nodakiddo: that was what happened with my grandmother! She was a lefty, and she told me that in school she would have her hand slapped anytime she wrote with her left hand. They always tried to "correct" her, but never could. She stayed a lefty for life.

I did have a friend in jr high though who was becoming a lefty and it scared her mom and she forced her to be right handed lol some people are weird.

I'm so glad it's second nature now.

Not sure yet since she's only seven months old. DH should have been a lefty but his grandparents wouldn't let him write or eat with that hand so he became a righty. He's more comfortable using his left hand to brush his teeth, reach out, etc.

@Coco Bee: I've always wanted to be a lefty, just to be different. I where watches on my right hand for that reason. I've actually forced myself to learn to write with my left hand. Comes in handy when I need to fill out a form with LO one in my arms.

@nodakiddo: Oh boy. That's crazy. Yup, my dad fits right into that mold. My husband was corrected when he was younger we think. He writes with his right but does most sports with his left.

I'm a lefty. Depending on how old your father is, there may have been a stigma in his time. I know back in the 50s-- maybe the 60s too -- and before that, parents and schools actually 'corrected' kids to write with their right hand, and they were punished pretty severely sometimes if they tried to revert to using the left hand. Before the 20th century, some cultures including in the USA considered left-handedness to be evil, as in the child was possessed by evil spirits....

We thought he was a lefty when he was younger. At this point he does seem to be showing right handedness. But he is still very ambidextrous and I don't want to fight that at all. My husband and I are both rights but his brother is a lefty.

He's only 6 months but I hope he will be a lefty! I am left-handed and I LOVE it. I remember feeling so set apart as a kid. There were some drawbacks; guitar was really hard to learn as was golf. I did archery in 4-H and there was no LH bow so I ended up really injuring my arm.. Little things like that- but I still loved it.

I really hope lo is lefty! I'm the only LH in my family.

My son is a righty. Looks like there's a chance that my daughter is a lefty. Even my father asked the other night - he only sees them when we Skype once a week. He asked as if it's a bad thing though. Not sure what the stigma is over being a lefty.
