That sounds like either of our kids when we take something sugar-y away from them!

My girl is an emotional nurser, for sure. She doesn't seem to have any attachment to food past what she wants to eat. I'm an emotional eater, not her father. Interesting to see what she'll be. I have no idea how my parents could have helped me to not grow into one, besides just not modeling it.

hmmmmm I think she is too young to tell. She definitely uses food as comfort when she is upset, but she is nursing and I think all breastfed babies do that.

@Coco Bee: the first time. At preschool last week daddy threw away his bagel and he started looking through the trash. He needs a lovey but I haven't found a good one yet.

Maybe. He definitely cries if he loses food but at other times, he is done when he is done. He will hold an apple slice forever and not actually eat it just hold it (like it's a lovey). So I don't know.

DS LOVES LOVES LOVES food. He will cry if I don't give him his food fast enough, and he cries when meal time is over. Right now I gave him a slice of apple and he loves to hold it and gnaw on it - but he is always dropping it. He cries so hard whenever it drops beyond his reach! It's so funny.

I was sharing this with my sister in law, who is going to school to be a health coach and she is especially interested in emotional eating and disorders since she was/is an emotional eater. Her teacher said that it's easy to tell if a child is an emotional eater right away because they either LOVE mealtime and cry when they don't get enough or when it's over; or they eat cause they have to and when they're done they're done. I thought this was SUPER interesting! She said it's so important to know because then you can raise your child accordingly.

Is your LO an emotional eat? Mine is!
