She is as long as people leave her alone, but some people want to carry her for half a second and then keep passing her from person to person like a baton and then she gets really angry and cries

LO was perfect in public and was super friendly towards strangers, reliably, until he got to be about 14 months old... now he is still that way when he's rested and not overstimulated, but his behavior now is a lot more dependent on OUR behavior, if that makes sense. If we're good at planning outings so that he's calm and rested and excited, he's awesome, but he's no longer as resilient to spontaneity or constant activity.

Generally yes, he loves new people/places. Lately he's been testing the limits though so it is a bit harder but it's still better than being home.

DS is 19 months old. He's usually really good when we are out in public. We only have issues sometimes when we have to leave the playground to go home or when it's close to his meal time or nap time. We had some issues in the last few months with DS refusing to hold my hand when he wants to get out of his stroller and walk, but thankfully he's better about that now.

Mine love to be out as well. I would rather be out of the house with happily distracted girls than home with cranky girls.

@pointybird: haha. I can only imagine what would happen if our LOs met. They'd probably have a staring contest and then simultaneously burst into fits of giggles!

My LO is the opposite! She is always so happy at home, but 3 out of 4 times she will cry when we are out to eat at a restaurant. She also hates shopping, especially the grocery store and stores with very bright lighting. It's so frustrating!

@Sammyfab: This sounds exactly like my LO! She basically just stares at strangers, waiting for them to interact with her. Luckily she's cute, so she usually gets what she wants.

Yes! He's ridiculously happy when we are out and about and so many people comment on how he is such a happy baby (when in reality he's not!). He stares people down to get their attention and then gives them a big grin. It's pretty funny! He can be pretty fussy if we are home all day so I definitely try to get out a couple of times a day.

I think LO is better in public than at home! She'll be a dream when we are out and about and everyone says what a happy baby she is. She smiles at everyone! Then we get home (or company leaves) and she melts down. She's a little scammer ;)

LO is just 6 months old so no telling how he will act when he is older, but he is so good out in public. He loves looking at new things, being pushed around in a cart or stroller. Sometimes when he is being fussy at home I take him somewhere just to calm him down.
