Yes! Tor does this often and usually it seems like teething or separation anxiety is at play but someone's it's so random I just don't have a clue. But then he is usually smiling within an hour or so so I don't worry.

@Ms.Badger: Yes, that's how I feel... incompetent! Ps: I love your avatar and name. The badger badger badger song was one of my fav Internet things back in the day.

@.twist.: Yeah, C sometimes will just randomly freak out like that too. I always wonder if something hurt him! But then he goes right back to normal.

Yep, he's done it in the car until he passes out. I hate it.

He had a weird one too the other day where I was changing him and he just started screaming. Almost like something scared him or pinched him... But I hadn't even gotten his diaper off yet and was just cooing at him. Picked him up and he calmed down, but it totally freaked me out!

Sometimes.. Aside from when she had a cold it hasn't happened in awhile but in the first six months it wasn't uncommon..

Way too often. He fights sleep and just starts screaming. I try EVERYTHING I can think of - white noise, bouncing, rocking, looking at various things, yoga ball... Sometimes one of these things works, sometimes I just have to wait it out. I HATE it, makes me feel so incompetent.

She's done that in the car a lot. It sounds awful and there is just nothing you can do! I hate it. And yeah then she just passes out eventually.

Yes! While I was visiting my coworkers she had a giant freak out and couldn't be consoled... Wouldn't latch on to nurse or anything. I got super sweaty and panicked haha.

In the early days P cried like this quite a bit. We also dealt with a lot of protein intolerances so until we got those under control I was pretty helpless alot of the time. It sucked! As she's gotten older & since removing those issues (and now her growing out of them) it hasn't happened (thankfully)!

I took LO out this afternoon in the hopes that he'd take his afternoon nap in the car, so I could get some stuff done. Normally he will fall asleep, and doesn't wake up when I transfer his carseat to the stroller. Ummmm not today! He had an epic freak out in the car. Screaming and crying. He has cried in the car before, but he was literally sobbing this time. I pulled over and checked him from head to toe to make sure he wasn't in pain, I tried bouncing him, feeding him, burping him, rocking him... nothing worked! He was hysterical. I eventually gave up and put him back in his carseat... 5 minutes later he was sound asleep. I guess he was overly tired? Babies! Always keeping me guessing (and worrying).

Does your LO ever become inconsolable? At inopportune times? What do you do?
